Ist reddit.com sicher?

It is a great site with a very diverse community. There are ads, but they are very out of the way/acceptable. Any NSFW content can be hidden away, and they are mostly kept to NSFW subreddits. The site uses HTTPS.

Great and informative website. Consists of interest groups (called 'sub-reddits') on any topic you can think of. The front page is pretty child safe but there can be adult content although usually marked with an 'NSFW' sticker or a page asking you to confirm you are over 18 before viewing.

99% of the subreddits (Subs) are SFW and very kid friendly, with moderators acting within the hour to remove any hateful posts or submissions. There is the risk of finding some NSFW material, but nine times out of ten, the submitter of the content and/or the moderation team of that subreddit label it as such.

It used to be a decent site, but the new administrators are really making a hash of things. A few of the recent problems include the following: a troubling lack of transparency regarding administrative decisions, apparent bias and favoritism regarding enforcement of community rules, a seeming lack of respect for the concerns of the site's userbase, and a betrayal of the principles espoused by one of the site's founders (the late Aaron Swartz).

Reddit is basically a large online forum, probably one the largest of it's kind and for me to describe it as a whole would be like asking me to describe society as a whole, it's that big. one thing that makes it hard to describe it is that it doesn't have a specific theme or category but loads of them separated into different subreddit (subforums if you will) covering pretty much every topic there is; literature, movies, gaming, tv, cooking, coin collecting, countries, religion, politics, adult content, cute pictures, stuff that's mildly satisfying, revenge stories on both petty and pro levels, that one tv-show that was canceled over a decade ago, outdoors, stuff that only 14 year olds find funny, actors, AMA's (ask me anything) or just a big ol' echochamber (refereed to as circlejerks by the reddit users). So do a bit of research on the subreddits and see that you find appropriate for you and your children before letting them loose on the site. not intended for anyone under the age of 13
