While many are saying this is simply a link shortner service -- this is true -- but since it's used by so many spammers/malware/phishing scams to conceal the true origin of the redirect, it is totally unpredictable where it will take you. Because of this, **even if the service/company ***** is not bad themselves**, the person who you want to click on the link can't know whether it's harmful, and so won't click it. It's a terrible method for marketing/client conversion rate. Why not just include the actual link to your website and be open and transparent about it?

smarturl.it/hptool is a scam used by fraud phishing people in india or Pakistan pretending to be Hewlett-Packard. They use this to infect your PC with REAL malware then extort money from you to fix it, all while pretending to be HP. DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Safe redirect website. Just be aware of the safety of the sites someone might be redirecting you to. It is completely unreasonable to label this as a phishing site just because phishers use its functionality for phishing. Literally any website that allows users to project their own information on that website (any e-mail service, forum, amazon, google, etc) can be used for phishing. By no means does the fact that phishers can interact with a website classify that website as a phishing risk. If you would like to report phishing, contact their staff at ***** to let them know that someone is conducting illegal operations using their reputable service. I am sure they will take action if you provide them with the appropriate information. Then, come to WOT and report the final page you are redirected to, not the redirect pages being used. You are doing a disservice to everyone by failing to do this and instead just reporting smarturl.it.

To those saying it's a phishing scam, it's because people abuse the link shortner to scam people. It's been done with every link shortner known to man. It is used to shorten links, that's it. The site has nothing to do with the scams people do. Stop being dumb and pay attention. When I first used this, it was go view a new Johnny Cash album that is coming out, it didn't bring me to any scams or anything, it brought me to the Amazon page with the album.

If you are concerned then copy the link and paste it into the location (URL) of a new browser tab. Then add a * before pressing return. You'll get details of where the link is sending you to. That's the site you should rate. Use caution - as with any link shortening service.
