Ist tripadvisor.com sicher?

With Yelp being called out for manipulating ratings for people that advertise and against those that don't; TripAdvisor has become my new go to, Hopefully they won't succumb to the same malaise that Yelp did. Too bad, I really did like Yelp before it turned to the darkside. YEAH Trip Advisor (at least for now).

Moderation unsatisfactory because it censors reviews that say too truths about some places! This is serious! A blogger was sentenced to a fine of 2500 euros because of a review on a restaurant in Cap Ferret in France, here's the article (French): ***** And here the reviews on TripAdvisor about this restaurant, there were plenty of who reminded the scandal, they were all deleted! (French) : ***** Many trackers of third commercial companies and ads!

Trustworthiness borderline between Suspicious and Good. The critque that I have is sometimes when reading restrauent reviews on Yelp.com, a Trip Advisor Pop-up ad will appear, even with ad-blocking software activated. I suspect that Trip ***** uses tracking cookies causing this behavior. Would recommend consulting other reliable sources and reviews on-line, just to make sure that Trip Advisor's reviews are accurate.

Lots of good info from reputable travelers but susceptible to skewing. In particular, individual investors in vacation properties have talked up their own developments to overcome frank, negative comments from disinterested visitors; ref, for example, the multiply bankrupted Buccament Bay Resort in St. Vincent.
