Its not 100% of the sites fault but scam mail is extremely high. Craigslist does warn you and tell you what to look out for in order to avoid scams, but after posting an ad for a computer I'm selling my inbox received 2 emails from actual buyers and id say over 15 from people trying to scam me. The best thing you can do is to play it smart no matter how much extra money people throw down on your items. Avoid anything with the words PayPal, checks, and bank. Also pay attention to the wording of the email. If the email says "I'm interested in your item. Whats the final price and condition" stay away. Notice the word "item" was used and not the actual name of the item you're selling. I've also noticed that the grammar of the average "scammer" is fairly bad. I personally keep a junk email for places like this. I hope these tips help you stay safe. Remember if it sound to good it probably is. Craiglist is a good site that provides a free place for people to exchange goods or services. Since removing their adult services area it has cleaned up its online transactions. This does not mean that there are not scammers that take advantage of the free posting, but that overall the site is a good site.
