acpeds.org is widely believed to be a 'junk science' site. In 2010, the USA National Institutes of Health (NIA) director Francis S. Collins, M.D., Ph.D. objected to some of this site's 'distortions': 'The American College of Pediatricians pulled language out of context from a book I wrote in 2006 to support an ideology that can cause unnecessary anguish and encourage prejudice. The information they present is misleading and incorrect, and it is particularly troubling that they are distributing it in a way that will confuse school children and their parents.' (source: ***** A typical criticism: 'The American College of Pediatricians is a silly little outfit. It is a tiny (between 60–200 members), ideologically-driven splinter organization that was created by the far-right and given a purposely innocuous name for the sole purpose of confusing the credible data put out by the 60,000+ member American Academy of Pediatrics. ' (source: *****
Helpful
Promotion of transphobic and homophobic ideas (like the "homosexual will make marriage meaningless"). Promote Conversion therapy as not harmful and use bogus source such as Mark Regnerus's study or are religious like this one: ***** Except for the potentially harmful impact of their opinions, the website itself is safe.
2
Homophobia, transphobic, and misogynistic. These people reject science in favour of dogma and are very dangerous indeed as far as anybody is concerned, let alone vulnerable children.
2
If "gender identity" is being discussed in lower elementary school (and it is), then this is more than suitable. Young children wouldn't understand it, anyway, and older ones who would come here and actually read it would find this useful.
1
Sad to see that so much hate directed toward a site that simply states an opinion they do not like.  Seems a tad hypocritical eh?  This is a good site!
5
Just look at the References. On the other side, if every scientist has his own ideas, I prefer those who have common sense. They are more than 400 members, and they do not publish a statement unless a large majority of members approve.
3
This group is a sham political organization that pretends to issue scientific opinions. It deliberately named itself to confuse the public - the real science-based organization of pediatricians is the American Academy of Pediatrics which can be found at *****
2
A splinter from the American Academy of Pediatrics which promotes homophobia
6
NOT the American Academy of Pediatrics. Splinter group founded in opposition to the AAP's position on adoption by same-sex couples. Takes a variety of positions that contrast with those taken by the AAP, mostly related to families and LGBT issues.
7
ACPeds is a conservative christian LGBT hate organization cut from the same cloth as NARTH. They exist for one thing only and that is to suggest that there is any medical consensus that LGBT people shouldn't be parents, have access to marriage, etc.
3
Excellent,authoritative organization.
5
This outfit the American College of Pediatricians consists of a small group (probably 60 to 100 - they refuse to release their numbers) of religiously orientated physicians who spend most of their resources attacking the gay community. Look them up in Wikipedia. If you want religion, go to church. If you want normal pediatricians, go to the American Academy of Pediatrics which has about 60,000 members (they do release their numbers).
2
Correct, it is not the American Academy of Pediatrics, it is (as stated) the American College of Pediatricians. Sorry guys, but for a website to be pro-traditional-family does not make it either a scam or an "adult content" site. Jeepers.
8
This is not the Academy of Pediatrics? No it isn't and I don't see anywhere where they claim it is. Well it is about time someone tells the actual truth about the homosexual agenda and how it has a desire to destroy thousands of years of tradition in the name of a persons choice of behavior.
6
This isn't the American Academy of Pediatrics. This site was set up by creationist liars to spread anti-gay lies, pretending to be scientific. IGNORE!
5
This is NOT the American Academy of Pediatrics.
