Is adesignaward.com Safe?

One of a large number of spam-advertised sites apparently operated by a business calling itself A' Design Award. Typical spams promoting these sites solicit recipients to submit their work for consideration for a supposedly-prestigious industry design award. The use of spam, and the constantly-changing domain names, make this "award" look very suspicious indeed. Often, 'awards' of this kind are simply a way to upsell 'award winners', convincing them to buy trophies, certificates, insertions in directories etc. A note on the 'Dates and Fees' page on the site reads "Please be reminded that A' Design Award & Competition requires a nomination processing fee / payment for active participation in the competition", so it is likely that their business model consists of collecting fees from people who wish to be considered for this supposedly prestigious award. It is not clear that the so-called A' Design Award is a legitimate or recognized award, and it may be no more than a way to make money by collecting "processing fees". Domains apparently associated with this business, many of which have been advertised by spam, include adesignaward dot com, worlddesigners dot net, worlddesignconsortium dot com, thedesignsaward dot com, productdesignaward dot org, granddesignersawards dot com, awardjury dot com, furnituredesigncompetition dot net, fashiondesignaward dot net, designleague dot net, designiconaward dot com, designawardmuseum dot com, designagencies dot org, design-conferences dot com, thedesignsaward dot com, innovatoroftheyearaward dot com, photomanipulationaward dot com, and generativedesignawards dot com, among others.
