Protip: mark your calendar every 4 months for each credit report to get the most worth out of this free site.
The credit reports from the credit bureaus are the real deal here. As per the FTC (See here: ***** this is the place to go for them.

This is the official website to obtain free credit reports as endorsed by the US Federal Government (Federal Trade Commisson: ***** ). They really should've used a .gov TLD as I always have to double check I'm at the right place.

This is the big 3 credit agencies and things with them are never as they seem. Procede with caution when dealing with them.
Another reason I maxed out my rating at light green is the site shuts down unless you have cookies enabled. That is really bad and I am almost tempted to mark them down even more.

This is the official credit reporting site authorized by law. The only problem I have with it is you cannot order credit reports for your kids if they are under 13 online.

Also, unlike reports directly from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, reports from ***** are better organized and easier to read.

Not one of the credit unions allowed me to view my credit score. One wouldn't allow me to view it, without an explanation why. The other asked me security questions that didn't apply to me, or had incorrect answers, and so they also would not allow me to view my report. Thanks.
But I would agree this is the only official site someone should visit for their free report.

comment retracted, this site says i took out a mortgage loan then says i need to mail my request with three pieces of personal info. the whole reason i was going to use it is to see my report online. shame, shame.

After using the site to get my 3 free annual credit reports I have been getting SPAM from my multiple companies to the email address I used for the service concerning things like.
FRAUDUALANT alerts, Your score has changed!, Possible compromise of your credit report.
They come in a wave every day and I was not getting those type of emails prior to using the service. All of these SPAMs appear to be trying to get me to buy credit report and credit score protection.

Despite all the other slimey commercials about free credit reports; this one actually does give you your free credit report. You don't have to sign a contract for some other services that many find are useless. Ignore the commercials and stick with this one.

AMEX said in a letter they sent me that this site is the ONLY authorized source under federal law to give me a free credit report.

This website is useful to get your once a year free credit report. Other websites that claim to be free are rip-offs and aren't actually free, for example ***** is a wolf in sheep's clothing...
