Is bankofamerica.com Safe?

Previously used Bank of America until they started charging me $5 monthly for not having direct-deposit after I had lost my job during the economic recession... fair enough this was policy and I was aware of it so no surprise but a con non the less during hard times. However the reason I'm coming back and giving a reduced rating is not long ago Bank of America got into trouble (class action lawsuit) for exactly the type of situation they pulled on me and ended up refunding many customers over fees (which I never received any compensation for but was no longer an active member). What happened was that rather than process transactions by date and time the transactions occured, they would hold some (which allowed online banking to not reflect actual balance available) and then post transactions to account in a Highest to Lowest manner instead of by time transaction had occurred. While this may not sound bad at first allow me to point out why it was deceptive.... I had always relied on the Online Banking to see my account balance. One day I made about 10 purchases, A couple were large and most were small micro payments. Due to the way BofA held and posted the transactions (By value instead of transaction time) it worked in BofA's favor to bounce me for 5 transactions instead of just the one bounce fee I would of normally been responsible for had they not hidden it from my online balance in the first place. I contacted them and they did reverse 2-3 of the bounce fees but expected me to pay the remaining. After much yelling, I immediately cancelled my account with them (This was in ***** or so) and am certainly happy I have not looked back. Mean while other family members continue to be victims of this companies abusive policies. Even if the bank makes a mistake it tries to hide behind a "1 credit under customer satisfaction yearly" policy. You are best off taking your money elsewhere.

Bank of America uses advertising to sell anciliary services. Although I block 'doubleclick.net' scripts using NoScript, there are no problems in accessing anything on the site. I do not know how anyone can say that this site is suitable for children as children are not of age to make financial decisions.
