The name Cartera immediately caught my attention, it means purse or wallet in Spanish. This company is involved in reward programs and points, so you start out with a rewards number identifying you. So they start out knowing your PII, address, IP address, credit card # linked to your rewards program, you home number and/or cell phone # and automatically will know all your purchases and activities related with your reward program. Since you start out logging into you rewards account website to gain points for purchases, they will know everything you do while logged in and I mean EVERYTHING. To help you gain points you can link you rewards account to companies that may interest you. You will of course want to use the App to help you gain more points so they can add a whole lot more personal information including everywhere you go. This goes well beyond what information other trackers can get, since they get a whole new level of accuracy to their information and can build a quite accurate personal profile. The privacy policy is short, but what they don't say is how far beyond other trackers they are able to go. Here is what I did find interesting on their privacy policy website. "In order to use the Cartera Offerings, you may be asked to provide certain information from time to time, which may include without limitation one or more of the following: your name, email address, telephone number, cell phone number, membership ID number, password, demographic information (e.g., zip code, age range, gender, etc.), survey answers, friend referral information, or other similar information. We automatically log your IP address (a unique code assigned to every computer using the internet) when you visit the Site in order to improve security, analyze usage, and administer the Site and Cartera Offerings. The information logged also allows us to track a user throughout their visit. We do not use this information to capture demographic or other information; rather, it is used simply in the administration of the Site and the Cartera Offerings. The Cartera Offerings may contain links to third party web sites. Cartera has not undertaken a review of the privacy policies or terms and conditions at such third party web sites, and Cartera makes no representations about the privacy policies or levels of security at these sites or the applicable terms and conditions. Cartera is not responsible for the applicable terms and conditions or the privacy practices used by such third parties FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF DOUBT, CARTERA ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY WITH REGARD TO ANY THEFT, LOSS, ALTERATION OR MISUSE OF PERSONAL OR OTHER INFORMATION LAWFULLY PROVIDED BY CARTERA TO THIRD PARTIES, OR WITH REGARD TO THE FAILURE OF ANY THIRD PARTY TO ABIDE BY THIS PRIVACY POLICY OR SUCH THIRD PARTY'S PRIVACY POLICY OR ANY AGREEMENT BETWEEN THAT THIRD PARTY AND CARTERA. " All I have to say is be aware and be careful. Children shouldn't be involved with Cartera and they say so themselves. Because Cartera works through partnerships they don't need to run their script to be monitoring you while online or through your smartphone, just one of their partner's scripts needs to be running for them to be there. I'm convinced these companies have smartened up a while ago already and by setting up partnerships is how many of them deal with script blockers and other technologies the interfere with their tracking. Again I say BE AWARE AND BE CAREFUL!
