DMCA complaints are used by unscrupulous companies that compete with them to eliminate competitors and violate the law on free trade on the Internet! DMCA employees do not even try to understand the nature of the dispute, and GOOGLE refers to the complaint of the DMCA and blocks the search content absolutely to be unreasonable without trying to objectively examine the dispute.

Awful service, block the URLs without even knowing whether they violate these pages or not.

I wouldn't use it. While I agree that "Just because it protects publishers rights does not make it a big evil website," the website has done enough to make me label it evil: It makes blatantly false claims regarding its abilities. For example, this is a blatant lie: "The fact is, if anything that you created is being used without your permission, online, you can have it removed!" - two huge glaring exceptions I don't see mentioned in their ad copy are sites in countries where DMCA-type laws don't exist, and content that is used under the 'fair use' exceptions, such as critique, or parody - they can't get your content removed if it's used legally but without your permission. (Well, unless they break in and take it down themselves!) On the other hand, they do seem to offer some legit and valuable services. Though I've crafted and sent out my own takedown notices, it's not an easy task for folks who can't bear to read and comply with tons of jargon-filled legal fine print that must be precisely followed. (Though it's easy if you just edit a similar notice; there's no creativity required.) Just because the DMCA is a rather bad law doesn't mean it can't be put to good use. UPDATED: Based on the reply below, I've improved my rating of the site. Also some of the negative reviews are nonsensical.

Hi MrElvey, We do DMCA style takedowns all around the world. You are right that the DMCA only applies in the USA, but many ISP's around the world have similar processes which we're able to take advantage of on behalf of our clients. You are right about that statement and we'll have it changed right away. thank you for pointing that out!

Thanks DJPRMF!
Ужасный у них сервис в плане того что блокируют сайты без причины и вообще не отвечают на письма, т.е. что хотят, то и делают.

From their own description "DMCA.com is the #1 provider of Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) Takedown Services & Website Content Protection tools." This means that they utilise tools which identify users, either correctly or not, take remedial action against those perceived to be in contravention of the DMCA. Within EUROPE these agencies have been shown to chase innocent people in order to try to obtain funds from them. This is a personal preference, but I do not trust this site, (Note, I do not download illegal material, nor do I file share copyrighted material, but that doesn't mean I support the actions of the DMCA).

I generally support the concept- but in the real world managing such things is going to be tricky. Also, it's privacy policy is OK- but with a few minor adjustments could be good.

"In response to a complaint we received under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act, we have removed 1 result(s) from this page. If you wish, you may read the DMCA complaint that caused the removal(s)" Those at DMCA are enemies of net neutrality! KEEP THE INTERNET FREE!

Site provides website protection services and their "DMCA Protection Badge" for Scalping-Scam websites, giving them impression that the Scalping-Scam website can be trusted. Email complaints to them go no where as their reply is they do not host the website or its content.

We don't get any sites shut down falsely, we're very careful about the takedowns we send out and we have a DMCA takedown professional look through each one before manually sending it out. You are likely thinking of other companies or other people.

That is correct. The website DMCA.com is owned by Digital Millennium Copyright Act Services Ltd., which is a company that provides DMCA related services to tens of thousands of global clients. Those services would include takedowns, photo watermarking, website protection, templates etc.
Very useful site, keeps information safe and prevents unwanted uses copying your content. Use it on every site i own!
