Is dogsbite.org Safe?

I am going to vote in favor of this site and lay out some reasoning. There are a couple of breeds that present more problems than others. Perhaps a bigger problem is that those breeds also attract the most meat-headed owners. Many dogs of those breeds would be less of an issue with better owners- but the inherent problem is there is a reason why bad owners seek out the most problematic breeds. That is not going away. If you believe in the academic position of "They are just misunderstood and they just need better owners." I have an experiment for you. Try going into low-income and drug infested neighborhoods, get out on foot and (from just the dogs alone) see how safe you feel and see how long you stick with that argument. Care to actually try it?

While some people may not like the fact that this site publicizes Pit Bull dog attacks and educates the public about the dangers posed by aggressive dogs in general, it's false to claim this is 'hate speech' just because you don't agree with it. Hate speech refers to discrimination against other HUMAN BEINGS based on race, gender, ability, religion, or sexual preference. It does not refer to trying to protect babies from being mauled by dogs. This website is a valuable resource to the community, as it has been for several years, and the information on the site helped me protect my child from two Pit Bulls that tried to attack him and our small dogs.

This site uses statistics divorced from context to cause unreasonable fear in those who might otherwise find reliable, context driven statistics. I'm sad that so many people are hurt or killed through ignorance of canine psychology, bad luck (populations exist on a bell curve - anomalies and the edges should not poison one against the center), or trespassing; that's no excuse to allow bigotry and cynophobia to drive the manner in which information is presented.

This website advocates for discrimination and ostracism of certain canine breeds on the basis of biased statistics and a gross misinterpretation of the issue. Pit bulls and rottweilers are ousted just because they are alleged to be more violent and aggressive. There is not enough evidence to support such claims; however, this site is based off those very unfounded posits.

this is a site that DOES NOT look at all the statistics it is claiming to report Unbiassedly. It is only pointing out one breed of dog, they say nothing about the other breeds that have bitten and or attacked a person. They are demonizing a dog breed that in my opinion has had enough media abuse to wipe out it breed if it hasn't been for the hard work of many organizations to keep it strong. If they are to "REPORT" the statistics report them ALL and accurately not just about a breed you are scared or not fond of.
