I find Google Earth extremely helpful, there are so many uses for it! Apart from finding and looking at landmarks and mucking around with the flight simulator, I have used it to find different places and plot routes to them.

Google Earth is good because it provides an eduacational experience to everyone who uses it. It allows anyone to look at landmarks, explore new places, and go to the moon & mars all at the comfort of their seat.

While I love the concept, people downloading the software need to be aware of at least these issues ... (1) Google makes it difficult to set up the software so that it does NOT automatically update and this is a security hazard ... (2) when it updates automatically, it downloads additional software that you have not obviously approved ... like Google chrome. If you are going to use it, go to the "advanced" link to disable automatic updates.
