Is empiredirectappliances.co.uk Safe?

I purchased a Hotpoint Dryer from empiredirectappliances.co.uk, which was delivered on time, but has some scratched on it. It's not actually the scratches that I'm bothered about, but the way they hard sell and conduct sales talk when contacting you about the £1 a month service and repair cover. They don't ask, but tell you that you're opted in and that their own families have the same cover, constantly saying how great it is. They asked straight away for bank details without actually asking you if you want the cover. I refused the cover and asked to opt out, but received more pointless sales talk to try and get me to reconsider. It was only when I realised myself that my landlord will be paying for the appliance and any service necessary, that they finally gave in. You're not tied to the contract, which is the only positive. I have 12 months guarantee and 5 year parts cover with the dryer anyway, so there's not much point in coughing up £52 a year (or £260 for 5 years). This echoes their previous business model... to squeeze as much money out of the customer as possible, which is an unethical and probably "once again" lead to their demise. I won't be using them again and will not be recommending them.
