I have never had an issue with this site or it's service and don't really understand the issues people have.

shameless credit reporting pimps with affiliates that regularly and consistently hit none-existent, non-human and non-COI accounts, via throwaway domains decided to hide them/their affiliates' identities. ethically bereft.

I have used this service for years. They are reputable, useful, and provide a very necessary service in this age of identity theft.

My wife and I went through a short sale in late 2009 - early 2010. Our home lost over $110,000 dollars in value, and with the both of us being in the military, if we were placed on orders there is no way we would have been able to sell our house and even come close to breaking even. The house was in my wife's name, so only her credit took a hit. After the short sale, my wife and I were very concerned with our credit reports, and went to this site to monitor our credit. Her credit slowly started to bounce back from the short sale, while my score was going down, and with no explanation. Negative remarks from my past were being removed from my report, I was establishing a longer history with companies, and had an excellent debt to credit ratio. Over the past 6 months my credit score dropped from a respectable 721 to a 690. I was getting worried, because according to "experts" I was doing everything right! Well, it turns out I was... My wife and I are looking at purchasing another home. We can't use her credit because of the short sale, meaning we would have to use mine (funny, experiandirect.com shows that my wife has a higher score, despite the short sale). We started shopping around, and found a few houses to offer on. When we went to the first lender, I was scared... would we be able to get a decent loan on my less than stellar credit? When the banker / lender looked up my score, he told me I had excellent credit! What, how can that be!? Well, according to his databases (and the next 3 lenders I saw), none of my scores is below a 730, with one of them soaring well past 750. How can experiandirect.com be so wrong, in one instance, wrong by more than 60 points! Avoid this site like the plague! They give you false information, and spam you with notifications. Every time you refresh your report, they offer you the chance to see your credit reports from all 3 agencies for $25. Maybe that is why they over notify you and give you wrong information!

They offer a legitimate credit monitoring service. I don't understand why it's listed as a "scam" site. Please reserve the categorization of "scam" sites to actual scam sites.

One of the 3 big credit reporting agencies in the USA. They try to encourage people in gathering credit information and credit score through many of their sites by offering "free" credit reports when they're not actually free and require a large monthly / annual subscription for "membership." The problem is people seldom read the "fine print" and get suckered in to signing up for what they believe is free. In the US the only single website that offers, by law, free access (1 report annually) is: ***** re: ***** related: ***** ***** *****

both the 'verisign' & the 'trust-e' symbols were unverified & being used illegally. I just hope I can cancel my transaction before it goes through.

For a company that deals with such sensitive information, you'd think they'd have a better password policy. Clearly, their website stores your actual password instead of an irreversible cryptographic hash.
