Is gotnews.com Safe?

Another example of a "Political Hack Job," as someone -- this time from the Left -- is using WOT to identify a site as "Unsafe." This site is perfectly safe. It's only marked down because someone is offended by the content. Someone needs to turn off their computer, turn off the light in their Mother's basement and take a time-out in their "Safe-Space." The world is full of information that isn't tailored to how we want to view it, so get over it. Don't try to block it, and why don't you read it. Heck, you might even learn something. Doesn't mean that you will agree with it, just that you will learn something. Sadly though, we have "Fine Examples of Humanity" who want to sensor everything that they disagree with...and physically attack those that use their freedom of speech. Never let people silence you. Doesn't matter what your political leanings are. Don't go quietly into the Night. Peace. ~ Nadrakas

There is some serious Astrtoturfing by people who have axes to grind with Charles C. Johnson., especially those affiliated with Little Green Footballs, a website hosted by Charles F. Johnson, a proven liar and astroturfer. I'm not a fan of either, but a red tag is unwarranted. All you need to see is Charles F. @green_footballs Johnson's Twitter feed to see that Charles C. Johnson is under siege.

It is my understanding that the Web of Trust website is to be used to identify widespread threats involving SPAM, MALICIOUS (MALWARE) CONTENT, VIRUSES, PHISHING OR OTHER SCAMS, BROWSER EXPLOITATION, ANNOYING ADS OR POPUPS, BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES, SPYWARE OR ADWARE, HATEFUL OR QUESTIONABLE CONTENT, ETHICAL ISSUES, ADULT CONTENT and overall CHILD SAFETY. The threat of “untrustworthy content” is meant for content INVOLVING the items mentioned above. By reading the “About Web of Trust WOT” section on the website one can learn the purpose is WEB SAFETY from purely TECHNICAL SECURITY to helping people find sites that they can actually trust. Unfortunately there are individuals who do not understand that the WOT website is NOT MEANT for CONTRASTING POLITICAL OR RELIGIOUS VIEWS and have hijacked WOT for political and religious purposes. If all users were to do the same thing every website involving politics or religion would have the BIG RED CIRCLE attached to them. And that would include the websites of members of Congress, the Supreme Court and even the White House. This is because the American society has many, MANY diverse and often passionate contrasting political and religious views. THIS PRACTICE DIMINISHES THE INTEGRITY AND CREDIBILITY OF THE WOT WEBSITE AND I WISH THE SITE WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

I see no evidence of fraud, phishing malware etc. I believe it has been marked down for political reasons only. I am seeing this more and more; in fact I am thinking of quitting WOT. I value warning about bad sites; I do not need a warning about bad politics or religion, I can work that out for myself.

I agree with previous commenter that WOT has become a useful means to discourage conservative views on the internet by loaning itself to censors of such views. This is not the only conservative website with a negative WOT rating and on the other sites I also find the censors remain anonymous.
