Is heartlandamerica.com Safe?

I placed an order for an item and then began to get a long string of emails saying that they were on "back order." After two months wait, they mailed me a new catalog that listed the same item that I had ordered but at a $10 higher price (and an altered "product number"). I telephoned to ask why they were advertising an item that they were telling me was back ordered and their response was to cancel my paid-for back ordered item rather than to ship me the item that they had price increased.

I have bought more than a few items from these people. There people sell mostly refurbished and discontinued items. You can find most of the items elsewhere NEW for LESS than they charge for the refurbished items. Same story for the other items. Their "compare" prices are with (often) different items, or what they would have sold at 10 years ago. I asked (over 1 year ago) to be removed from their list. I still get catalogs even after calling 5 different phone numbers and requesting to be removed.

After requesting to be removed from their email list twice, I continued receiving almost daily messages even after two weeks. Worse yet, the also began sending messages that they routed through my Google Checkout account, which I'd used to make my only purchase from them.
