Is hlamer.ru Safe?

i used this site a few years ago and i may be incorrect on the culprit but i think this site was responsible for giving my computer a virus that eventually destroyed my desktop. i was watching a video on the site and got a pop up that said something along the lines of "Security breach. your computer may be infected" or something like that. since i thought this was fake and was a scam i closed the tab and the next day my computer went to DOS and started to delete everything on it. i turned off again and next time i tried booting it. i wouldnt launch windows. so i'm not sure if it was the site itself or even if it was my fault or not for not having reliable anti-virus or something but if you use this site i would probably make sure all your anti-virus software is running and have pop-up block on
