spamming from ***** to addresses that could not ever have requested information. when said non-existent address unsubscribes, the spam continues unabated.

I think this site is a generic web host, not a spammer. Specifically, if you look at this page: ***** it shows the link for the Alky project hack as ***** which in turn contains a dead link to ***** which the owners of the blog announced some years ago had recently been closed. The site is dead, and when clicked it links to: http://saturn.host-care.com/suspended.page/ which suggests that this company was providing web hosting or similar services to Falling Leaf Systems, a good but since closed company. It is more likely that any spammers simply misused this companys services.
