As I live in McLeod Ganj, a small town in Northern India, I gave a direct recommendation about a local rural broadband initiative, that is a reliable one and can supply you with a 1 Mbit/s reliable connection in this area. Something that is hard to find for a newcomer. What is special about McLeod is that it is the base for The Dalai Lama, so quite a few tourists come over here.
