Is lendingtree.com Safe?

I, like many others, started being spammed within seconds (literally). The thing I'm the most concerned about is that one of their lenders did a hard credit check on me without my permission. I was only comparing some quotes, starting to shop around, and it's been a real hassle since.

Will set you up with countless loan offers and spam your phone, dozens of calls a day from different companies who will call and call until you answer. YOU CANNOT CANCEL YOUR ACCOUNT, THEY LEGALLY CANNOT DELETE YOUR INFORMATION. They have to keep ALL of your info on file for credit purposes for the IRS, and will NOT delete your account. Attempted to do it myself, to contact customer service twice and never heard back. Had to change my info to stop the harassing calls. Just wanted to see potential offers, not have my credit destroyed by applying for god knows how many loans and credit cards. WILL WRECK YOUR CREDIT! HUGE RED FLAG! Extremely unethical business practices.

WOW. Dont believe what you see on TV. I did the online app and was BOMBARDED Instantly. Instantly by numerous Mortgage companies. Read disclosures before hand and they of course never said this would happen. Still havent gotten to see Rates online from different banks. LMAO. Seems if you deny the phone calls. You dont get the Rate information.

It seems to me to be a deceptive business practice, to imply that "one's credit score will not be affected" when one submits an inquiry with this company. When in fact, a Hard Credit Inquiry IS run, which in effect, Absolutely Does Affect your score! QUESTIONABLE ETHICS = QUESTIONABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES ! BEWARE !!!

Here is an e-mail I sent to them ... Please remove me from your database!!! Any more e-mails will be considered harassing! I expect one e-mail, one stating this has been done. Your web site is lacking in a means to end/remove/deactivate ones account. I have unsubscribed from your site, but I still get e-mails and I see not way of closing my account down. Any good reputable company would have a way to do that. Even after going to the site and "Unsubscribe All", I still get your e-mails. I am very displeased with your service, rates, and how you give my information was given out to your affiliates. You will be getting a bad report from me with the BBB and your web site will get marked too. Kevin

I have used Lendingtree for home mortgages twice and have had no problems. I did not use any of the banks I was matched with the first time but the second time I did end up going with the bank. Yes I got some marketing emails but when I clicked on unsubscribe I stopped getting them.

Beware greedy, irresponsible bankers. When loans are offered that the lenders have little reasonable expectation can be repaid, the consequences can be devastating to the duped clients, to their communities, and as we have witnessed, even to the global economy. Trustworthy businesses should not need to spam.
