Update 2016/9: After many many months no sign of life whatsoever. Yet another (in this case USA) company with only marketing crap about good customer service and products. Send lying marketing people home and in their wakes non-integer sales/support people, a lot of crap about product traceability or change the marketing lies with the facts: lousy support/service and alledged faulty products (batteries and/or lamps) shipped an no traceability whatsoever. Ask them or a distributor oe sales outlet to trace a battery back .... The fact that no follow up is done with serious matters like these, shows me that suspicion it is probably true. Maglite blacklisted for life as non-integer company, poor customer service, potentially dangerous products and complete ignoring potential health hazzards. Poor customer service: Maglite (request and reminder) shows customer "service" by silence (only confirming receipt and promise to contact; 10+ days ago). We required about potential problems with their products: # A potential faulty batch of Maglites and/or # A potential faulty batch of Intec batteries On 2 occasions we have experienced problems with the newly bought MagChargers (MagCharger + replacement MagCharger including full replacement of lamp, battery, charger unit and adapter). Seller is not mentioned as they replaced the lamp (for another broken one), returned our money and is not to blame (for buying faulty products himself). Problems: -------------- # Electrical shock (low voltage). While charging touching (not grabbing) the metal housing causes electrical shock (touch of all metal housing parts except the 'ribbed' part). # Lamp never reaches 'fully loaded status' (non-blinking green status indicator). The lamp seems to be stuck at top-off status (blinking green). # Manual tells that batteries are shipped empty: there were not empty. Description: ---------------- Manual states that the first load cycle is longer but should reach top-off status (blinking green status light) and after that (full green status light). THIS NEVER HAPPENS. Even after 3 days charging it keeps blinking green. Removal from the socket for <5 seconds and plugging it will restart charging (orange status light). It should (for very short time) but this will be FOR HOURS. Repeated unplugging/plugging a few seconds a few times and EVERY TIME it will charge (orange) again for hours, only reach green blinking top-off stadium and never reaches 'fully loaded'. According to the technical service of 3 European based (self-proclaimed?) importers in Holland and Germany this means either a faulty lamp part and/or faulty battery. The only party NOT reacting to this quality issue ... maglite USA .. the manufacturer. By the way: their distribution channel looks a mess, nobody knows who is official importer of a country/Europe; it is unclear and not shown on their website). They only USA confirmed is that there is no traceability where faulty batches end up being sold. Since Maglite does not respond and technical people suggest faulty products this may be of importance to (potential) buyers. So please check: # if touching the lamp while charging gives you an low voltage electrical shock. (this could indicate a faulty part in the lamp, may even harm your lamp) # if your lamp never reaches fully loaded status (fixed green light, no blinking) (if not: your battery never fully loads, probably bad for capacity + lifespan of the battery) # if unplugging/repluggung (few seconds) on blinking green status will cause hours of recharging (battery and/or lamp issue?) # if you battery is: Intec IMT-3500D | ESR8EE5920 6.0V 3.5AH I 4914 (where I must assume 4914 means week 49 of 2014). In both cases we had this type/batch of battery. We have returned the product and blacklisted Maglite as a brand: # 2x faulty product # Abominable customer service Not waiting for answer of Maglite: Within 14 days after receipt products can be returned without any reason (European Law). This is forfeited when returning outside this time span. Then seller only has to replace the lamp or have the lamp repaired. Replacement meant another one form a bad batch and no 3rd one desired. Repair is unacceptable: we planned on buying a new one, paid for a new one and not for a repaired/refurbished one. So we returned the lamp, took the extra shipping cost on the chin and NEVER BUY MAGLITE AGAIN.
