People don't understand that being anorexic or bulimic helps people feel comfortable in their bodies. I, personally, love this site.

great support for those with eating disorders

On the website it says support or recovery of those suffering from eating disorders but a lot of the members on the site promote them as a good thing which is really disgusting.

It's a safe place for people with eating disorders. Unlike what the name sells, it is no more a place that encourages any kind of disordered eating. Anyone that promotes EDs is quickly shut down, for it is highly frowned upon among the community. It gives people with eating disorders the support they might lack in their lives, and often I see members encouraging recovery. Plus, it's virus/ad free. However, if you don't have an ED, if you're developing one, or if you're recovered, don't explore the site. While not actually pro ana anymore, it can be very triggering.

Yeah, no. To anyone who's trying to defend this site and say it's alright for kids and to "not downrate it because you don't agree with it", you're messed up in the head, as are the people who created this site. It's PRO anorexia/bulimia/eating disorder. It ENCOURAGES people to not seek help, and tells them that slowly killing themselves is A-OK. As stated before, the only reason those hotline numbers are there is because the creators wanted to save their asses so that people can't sue them or shut their site down. DON'T blindly assume stuff, because this site is dangerous to anyone with an eating disorder, and if a kid sees this site, they could get pushed over the edge. If you have a family member/kid that has, could have, or has the potential to develop an eating disorder, block this site.

This site is very informative and impartial. I think it is absolutely safe for anyone who is over sixteen.

This site, while doesn't always promote getting help, is a support community for people who suffer with an eating disorder or disordered eating, whether diagnosed or not. They're all a community of men and women who understand each other and the site is being downrated by people who don't understand what the site is about or for. Yes, they share tips and generally support one another in unhealthy behaviors, but they also support one another in being safe and getting help when someone is ready to get it. This site shouldn't be used by children, but then again, neither should the internet, but that's not up to the site, or the people on the internet, to contend to. Minors should be being watched by their parents.

The forum is a website I trust and use. It's not safe for children because it is about eating disorders, but for those of us who suffer, it's a comforting to place to feel free to talk about our illness. The website is trustworthy for adults who need to talk.

MyProAna. What does that name imply? It's a website dedicated to feeding into people's eating disorders. I find it highly offensive since I've witnessed what people go through. It offers "support," but those who come for support are just Tumblr-esque special snowflakes. This site feeds into a disorder and gives it positive reinforcement.

The site primarily functions as a support network. Giving out "tips and tricks" and "teaching" other people how to "get" eating disorders is highly frowned upon and will be shut down. The person trying to get tips or give tips has their membership revoked. It's not perfect, because information still gets traded (albeit in varying contexts) but I think the site does more good than harm. It allows us a platform to really be able to come out with our illness and talk about it. We tend to isolate ourselves and it's been said again and again on the website that the website was what stopped so many from committing suicide. I can't speak for everyone, but depending on the user and where that user goes on this website and what they do with that material, it is actually a form of therapy and has been for me.

Depending on your sensitivity to eating disorders & mental illness, this site is a perfectly harmless good site. In any forum, there are always going to be trolls who will try their damnest to black-list a site. They're the UNREGISTERED GUESTS who fabricate unblievable stories so if you have any common sense, you'd know theiir unbelievable claims or details in their story are false. Whats more, if the negative reviewers who seems to lack any common sense actually took the time to read throu' some of the threads THROU' TO THE LAST PAGE before believing what they read on the first page, those negative reviewers would read exactly how & why the troll's story/post is unbelievablly false for themselves. MyProAna is for those with a mental illness, namely eating disorders. Most mental illnesses also have the symptoms that MyProAna members are sharing; despression & a misguided perception of themselves so of course they're going to post what they do not. Those posts are what they're feeling so in NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM are any REGISTERED members encouraging their own mental illness.

Pro-ana website promoting starvation over treatment. In addition, I got hit by a drive-by download when I visited the site, so there's viruses to look out for as well.

I stand by this positive review. Just because you don't agree with the website doesn't mean it is dangerous to visit! I'm tired of seeing the rating so low on things people DISAGREE with rather than sites that are actually malicious or trying to infect the users computer with a virus. I get it, feelings get hurt! But please, be reasonable and only give negative reviews to websites that will actually harm your computer!! I am not an anorexic, but like to see how they think. Visiting the site will not make you anorexic, if it does you should probably disconnect from the internet and avoid anybody different from yourself.

I love this site. It is very helpful to people with eating disorders and is not a substitute for medical treatment. People that down-vote are considering this a kind of treatment and not a community.

This site does not encourage eating disorders at all. If anything, it tries to persuade those who go there and ask for help to develop an eating disorder to not head down the road of developing an eating disorder. It is a site for those who already have eating disorders to go so that they are able to connect with those who also understand them.

This is a site for people with eating disorders who may not be in recovery. It's controversial because people believe this might keep sick people out of recovery or make people sick, but I strongly disagree. I believe this is harm reduction. Just because a person isn't ready for recovery doesn't mean they should be forced to suffer alone. I've read testimonials from people whose lives were saved just by having someone to talk to through that dark time. I think our society has the unfortunate habit of blaming and isolating victims of things like mental illness, drug abuse, and domestic violence who don't yet have the strength to seek help. This isn't a bad site, just a site for sick people going through a dark time.

These girls are sick and they're promoting a lifestyle that is fatal. Maybe these whiny little suburban brats should go live in Africa - food will NEVER be an issue - they won't have any. Yay for free speech - it allows pigs like this to have open websites for immature and impressionable minds.

Do not be fooled by the links to anorexia prevention and treatment websites on the side. This is simply for legal purposes in order to prevent the owners and hosts of this site from being shut down (although it nevertheless should be). This website encourages those suffering from anorexia nervosa to embrace their disorder and practice it as a healthy and fashionable lifestyle. In other words, this website supports deadly habits and the glamorization of a serious psychological disorder which claims the lives of more people than any other mental illness, including depression and anger issues. Only the emotionally insecure, the ignorant, the disturbed, or the mentally ill would seriously support this website and its claims. If you are anorexic, seek medical help because your very life is at risk. Anorexia is not simply the demonizing of being thin, but rather the unhealthy obsession with starving one's self. Learn the facts, not the falsehoods.

This is a pro-ana website. Although some people believe that people who suffer from eating disorders can find psychological support in websites like that, I doubt that this can be the case. Tips for fasting and purging cannot in any way be regarded as psychological support.

This site may send a bad message but it's trustworthy.
