That NetSpend was sued by the FTC in 2016 is of less interest to me than what it's doing now; 5-6 years should be enough time to clean up its act, but at this time it seems that it hasn't. Articulate customers are still posting similar complaints, this otherwise clean site actively communicates with seriously malicious files, and no banking site should have less ("B") than stellar security; so apparently this company ($800M revenue) regards a $10M fine as a slap on the wrist. This site and company is a source of fraud and customer abuse and should be avoided. Netspend gouges customers in states that don't have adequate consumer protection laws in place to prevent bogus inactivity fees. This company was sued by the FTC in 2016 for service violations regarding preventing client's access to their deposits. There are privacy concerns as well since they often request sensitive documents without any guarantees of data security. See: *****

they want me to send a copy of my ssn card and the driver license in order to activate my prepaid card or I will be charged $2 per transaction and use it as a debit card on top of the $2.95 fee when I bought the card. never again.

I've been with netSpend for 8 years now, I never once had an issue with them. I didn't heavily use it, but it was always there when I needed it. Like a 'Free' Reloadable card you'd buy (When I was younger I got into the whole greendot visa cards, that you could reload). I did not spend a dime, in fact I got with them because of an incentive (20$'s, and was told by a friend about it) I went with them, and I am actually happy and glad I did so. Because now the banks are charging a hefty price (10-15-20$s for banking with them) and have been slowly using them more this last year, and probably more the next coming year. I had no fraudulent crime or theft done against me, at one point had 300$s in it for quite some time I had forgot about it, and remembered and it was still there. There are fees, but most of them can be avoided if you look through, and listen (They aren't hidden, when you call in they say it as clear as light and day when you apply/activate your card).

Fox Channel 4 in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area did a story on this company that was very negative. The air date was ***** Be careful with submitting identity with this company, especially since they offer a customer the ability to acquire income tax refunds sooner. The news story reflects identity theft and fraud.

I have been using Netspend for many years and never had a problem. You can have your paychecks directly deposited into your account including your income taxes. Privacy and security are great. They protect your information in many ways.

Great card. Very easy to reload and no monthly fees are much better then what I was using (GreenDot). Are a lot of high fees but still use this card

They sent me an email saying: "'_*Your_Visa®_Prepaid_Card_has_finally_arrived!_'" When I click the link it redirects me to different websites and evenutally brings me to this one. I never signup from any emails from them nor have I ever heard of NetSpend Visa.

Zero problems for 4 years now. Transactions post immediately, no waiting days for a transaction to post like with traditional banks. No overdraft fees because it's not possible to overdraft due to everything posting immediately. Ability to have a text message with balance info sent after EVERY transaction make keeping track of your balance easier than a checkbook register. Does cost $10 a month however. There is no scam or exorbitant fees. It's either $10/month or you can pay by the transaction. The pay by transaction option would be good if you only use the card a few times a month, otherwise go with the monthly fee. It really isn't much more than the big banks charge for a checking account without direct deposit. Only downside I have found is that some online subscription services (like Netflix) will not accept it since it is technically a prepaid card. Also, ever Wendy's restaurant has to manually enter the card, their system can't process it with a swipe. Odd but only a slight inconvenience. All in all, I give it a 5 outta 5.

This is great for paying bills and ordering on line. It is safe and secure. I have been using it for the last 5 years with no issues.

This is a safe and secure website and is great for using to order off the internet.

Wikipedia page - ad. High fees. Targets those without credit.
5
Pre-pay scam. Sends unsolicited Visa cards for people with no credit. Then charges hidden exorbitant fees for using the service like a credit card.
3
A very safe and secure debit/credit website.
