I just had a nice reply from Steven, confirming the hpHosts "ATS" rating for opentracker is a safe rating. He posted a note on the forums here (see link below). Casey *****

I posted this on hpHosts as well (see below). I think the negative ratings here are a mistake or a bot that got them incorrectly listed on hpHosts in the first place. I took a quick look at some of the other reports on opentracker.net available at hpHosts and they all showed up clean. OpenTracker is just a web analytics tracker, no different in principle than google adwords, which of course is used everywhere and is quite safe. I've been a customer for several years and they are a small and very responsive group, donate a dollar to the planet, etc. Folks who've posted otherwise, do you have personal experience to the contrary? I saw one german lawyer saying it's against the law to retain IP addresses - something every web log I've ever seen does, but otherwise I'm quite puzzled by the ratings. Regards, Casey ========= my posting on hpHosts ======== Why is opentracker.net listed on your site? It's no different than google adwords or many web analytics java script gizmos, yes? I didn't check your rating of google, but I assume a standard analytics tracking - as opposed to an adserver - is fine, yes? I've been a customer of www.opentracker for ages and they seem to be a small and conscientious (spelling?) group, fast response times, nice Jiira system for ranking suggestions from customers, dollar for the planet, etc. I took a quick peek and none of the other reports show them as being bad. So, I'm guessing a bot or such has placed them here? Unfortunately, your listing has been taken by some WOT users to imply they are not safe. Will post this over there as well. Regards, Casey
