The OCA has started to diverge from being about organic farming (which has its issues on itself) into full pseudoscience, quackery and dangerous health advice. It promotes anti vaccine talking points, opposes fluoridation, enables known health quacks as NaturalNews and Mercola, etc. It also uses questionable tactics in promoting their cause, including extortion and falsifying and misrepresenting scientific research.

Why the conflicting rating? On almost all levels this is the kind of information that needs to get out about cleaning up our food supply and environment. However, they took the bait of anti-GMO nonsense. Once people become convinced that GMO food is evil there is no evidence that can pull them out of their superstitious haze. I also am on the brink of dropping them to yellow- lower for the anti-vaccination link. If there were more- or I saw some of the complaints that others have mentioned then there would be a bigger problem. If they didn't do so many other good things I would dump this site.

The Organic Consumers Association's (OCA) page is filled with misinformation, pseudoscience/alternative medicine, fear mongering, etc. and everything within it should be taken with a grain of salt and fact-checked. A few examples of this: 1. The OCA promotes homeopathy - a pseudoscience with no theoretical foundation or clinical evidence to support it. [1] 2. The OCA promotes anti-vaccine denialism and conspiracy thinking which has no scientific foundation either. [2] 3. The OCA has a clear ideological agenda against biotechnology and GM foods while the scientific consensus and evidence on this is clear. [3] 4. The OCA typically uses fear mongering tactics about e.g. pesticide residues in GM and conventional foods but this is misleading since GM crops generally have lower pesticide use and residues than organic crops. [4] 5. The OCA promotes organic farming as a way to combat climate change, health issues, etc. But these ideas are also generally not supported by evidence since organic farming generally promotes higher erosion rate and more emissions and generally has no benefits over conventional agriculture. [5] There are many more topics that are unfortunately filled with misinformation and scare tactics on this page and I suggest always checking them with - preferably - scientifically peer reviewed sources. Half of what this site claims is baseless or wrong. Medical Misinformation can endarger the lives of those gullible enough to believe it. They need to cite scientific studies that are not obscure outliers done in someone's basement.

The OCA lobbies against proven GMO foods and spreads misinformation and fear about Gm technology. They fail to admit the dangers of their own products which kill and hospitalize thousands annually due to things like, E.coli, Salmonella and, Hep A.

I like my organic food as much as the next person, but the scare-mongering on this site about vaccination is absolutely appalling! They repeat all the worst anti-vaccination propaganda from the very worst anti-vaccination organisations. Vaccines are both very effective and extraordinarily safe; the diseases they prevent are killers. By spreading this disinformation OCA is harming the health of children. There's a reason that diseases like measles, mumps, rubella and whooping cough are making a comeback: it's people being dissuaded from vaccinating by the lies of the anti-vax lunatic fringe.

very biased site, with knee-jerk anti-GMO and anti-vaccination articles; a lot of fear, uncertainty and doubt here.

We all need to band together and stop big pharma trolls on this site putting down and giving bad ratings to sites just like this that speak truth about health, vaccines, and GMO's.

Thank you OCA for being the beacon of light in our chemically polluted food world. Why it escapes people's logic/intuitive sense that eating pesticide laden food and having more and more chemicals unloaded into the environment is not detrimental to human and environmental health is a mystery to me. I love the articles on OCA's newsletter....keep them coming and thank you for your tireless efforts supporting and upholding organic standards!

Excellent website, accurate information and very resourceful tools. One of the most ethical organic advocacy websites online. They are champions of health and the rights of farmers for sustainable food growers in the entire country of the U.S.A. HIGHLY recommended and support their cause entirely.
