An official website of the Pidgin cross-platform IM. Safe and reliable site, and their software is very useful. I use Pidgin myself and I am satisfied.

The site is safe, but what happens on the various IM is not thier responability so be carful when talking to people on im servcies.

This is my favorite IM messanger , Bud now I know better . PSI+ for XMPP network. But PSI support only one network and Pidgin Multiple .. Site is safe.

pidgin ate all my bandwidth, some services didn't work, and it crashed my internet security with 3000+ connections. crashed router too (never happened before)

Pidgin is one of the best FOSS IM clients you can get. It's very extensible and supports most major networks. If you want looks, go with Trillian. If you want customizability, use Miranda. But for good old simplicity and ease of use, Pidgin is the classic choice. Pidgin also handles the XMPP protocol better than any other IM client I have ever used (except maybe Miranda). Overall, it's a great program and a boon to us Linux users.
