ReCaptcha is a very useful project.

Provides a CAPTCHA system which is totally safe. It also has a great purpose: digitalizing books.

I have mixed feelings about recaptcha. I applaud any effort to put an end to spam, but there are more userfriendly AND effective ways to go about it. Advanced spamware can still read the code displayed on screen, as can cheaply paid 'workers' in Nigerian internet cafe's. Deafblind surfers, or dyslectic visitors with hearing problems, are the only ones who are effectively kept out. Therefore, captcha's should not be encouraged!

Recaptcha is an anti spam/bot tool. Scripts from recaptcha.net are required for any site that uses the tool in order for it to function properly.
