I have had nothing but bad experiences with S3. My first Windows 2000 computer had an S3 onboard graphics card with 16 MB dedicated memory, but it failed about 10 times and eventually I needed to boot in safe mode because it didn't work. It also couldn't do 32-bit colors at anything above 1024 x 768, which sucked. I had a high-end computer back in 2001, but because of the S3 GPU I only kept if for 2 1/2 years.
