Send huge quantity of unsolicitated emails. By the way, AUTHRONAME is not really my name... Dear [AUTHORNAME], Welcome to the September, 2014 edition of SAP newsletter, providing monthly summaries of articles on science & education related topics of interest to scientist and professionals. The mission of our journals is to provide an open access forum for publishing new findings on issues pertinent to scientific and academic field. Used a forged header to try and hide where the spam was coming from. No one honest does this. NO worthwhile academic journal is going to spam every member of a University in the vain hope that someone with subscribe . We have firewalled this one and other fake journals. NEVER trust a spammer NEVER buy from spammers (HIGH fraud risks) NEVER visit spammed web sites (HIGH malware risks) Permanent spam filter added; if body contains "sapub.org" mark as spam

Although this site doesn't follow normally accepted procedures for soliciting authors, that doesn't mean that the material published on the site is necessarily bad. While authors may be naive this doesn't necessarily mean that their work shouldn't be readily accessible. The extreme negative rating in effect blocks downloading citations to users of WOT who also use online bibliographic databases such as Zotero. The extra warning steps cause imports of citations to fail. Some of the ratings clearly reflect the annoyance of those assigning a score. I could find no reason whatsoever for the extreme rating given to child-friendliness. This is a site that provides a venue for academic publications. Even rather poor articles can be useful to read. Sometimes these articles' findings appear in the news or are used in arguments to question articles that appear in more traditional venues. It can be necessary to read these articles in order to refute them. How much credence would be given to one who argues not from the content but from an objection to policies of the publisher? Clearly, many of the ratings are false and due to (perhaps, justified) annoyance with the solicitation practices of the publisher. The basis of my belief is that the site has absolutely no child-risk content. Yes, most of the content is for academics and some academic content is questionable for young children. However, does the Journal of the American Medical Society JAMA have an unsatisfactory child safety rating? It does not. Does the Journal of Child Abuse and Neglect have an unsatisfactory rating? No. Both of these journals' websites absolutely contain material that could be scary for kids have an excellent child safety rating. I hate predatory publishers, and this may be one. But that doesn't mean that the content is bad -- only that some raters are expressing their extreme distaste for the publishers business model.
