... I participated in one on traditional medicine organized this past June in Valencia. I attended it with my husband ... I say only that this was our worst conference ever, well beyond imagination. They are now organizing another conference of the same kind in Rome ... . Below is my reply to their invitation, for your records. ... Many thanks for this blog and I hope many scholars/scientists will check it out, not to fall into the trap. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am really surprised to receive an invitation to participate to another of your congresses after the total disaster of the one in Valencia. That conference was so disappointing that I cannot even imagine how you are planning to organize another one in Rome, Italy (my birthplace, sigh!). This is disturbing and upsetting, to say the least. I had decided not to return to you ever, but your message prompts me to do so. Please, please, I beg you: DON'T organize in Rome another event like the one in Valencia, where, except for two Indian guys who barely knew English and did not speak a single word of Spanish (in Valencia, Spain!) there was practically nobody of the Organizing Committee, which did not include any professor from any local university, as it would be expected in an international conference. There was no opening ceremony, no closing ceremony, no program available, no certificate of attendance, no Expo, just nothing. Probably, you are not aware of that congress, so I need to inform you about it. The very few of us, the participants, had to do EVERYTHING, from A/V technicians to chairs of the few sessions, to clapping to each other. It was pathetic. Besides, there were 3 pediatricians who were there to participate in another conference (on Pediatrics), which was simply canceled (WHY didn't you tell them NOT to go to Valencia?!) and they presented their papers during our conference. Unbelievable! They were so frustrated by the whole situation and furious at the idea of having to return to their institutions to get a reimbursement without any valid paper. Furthermore, the two Indian guys took pictures of us, but we have never seen those pictures. Just like our certificate of attendance, which they promised to send us via mail. The poster session was awfully mounted. We were given so much false information that it is impossible to list each and every one. You should be ashamed to have organized something like that, namely: The. Worst. Conference. Ever. But your organization probably does not care, as every time it gets NEW participants, unaware of the trap and of the poor quality of the conference they will attend. You are just one of the many predatory organizers. I am so sorry for the speakers who have signed up to attend your event in Rome... ... I am praying that you will cancel your conference ... . You cannot bring your unprofessional way and total disrespect for any scientific discipline around the world, as you are doing now. You cannot continue to lure respected scientists and young researchers as you are doing now. For your information, I am copying in bc some emails of people who might be attracted to participate in your congress in Rome. This is just to warn them to be careful. Of course, they can decide to participate anyway, and they might be lucky and eventually get a better event than ours in Valencia, but I feel just fair to inform them. Because we are all in the Academia, and trying to pursue our research and do our job in an ethical, professional way. Which obviously is not your case. ...
