Virustotal says that webutation, ESET, and SCUMWARE.org find this site to be malicious.
I ran through this site using a VM. I wasn't suprised when after clicking on a screensaver, it automatically re-directed me over to another site, full of malicious downloads.
DO NOT GO ON THIS SITE UNLESS YOU ARE DOING MALWARE ANALYSIS!
The site hosts malware and viruses. I've downloaded a few files from them and got my PC infected in no time. If you're looking for quality screensavers, this site is definitely one to avoid.
I downloaded one of their wallpapers using a Sandboxed Web Browser, and as a result the file is in the Sandbox. However, when trying to run the file under sandboxed control, it asks for my age, who uses the computer, mobile number, and other personal details. This is clearly a scam and very malicious for a site giving free wallpaper and screensaver downloads. Do not visit this site.
This site may look nice, but it's not. Ad-filled installers, ads, and malware are scattered around this site.
I find it very funny how things say "FREE" in things such as on ads. And what makes it funny is that it isn't free. I was once infected by AntiVirus 2009 (which was at 2008, meaning it was DEFINITLY a virus), and it said to download it freely. First time I did so, because I was foolish enough, and then...well it's actually similar on what happened to mrscience. Only no blue screen of death, but ANNOYING pop-ups. Including a pop-up to say "Buy Now!". Never stay on that website for more than a nanosecond.
Screensavers are the oldest of the oldest when it comes to online malware.
Just avoid this website.
Careful: Screensaver download is one of the main methods of distributing malware. Avoid this site.
EXTREMELY dangerous site.Do not download, click, touch,or even do anything on that site.If you manage to get on it,reboot your computer while hoping there is no virus
screensavers.com has undergone a complete metamorphosis and no longer bundles adware or spyware. It does include an *optional* ALOT toolbar but that is completely optional and is a "Trusted Download" at TRUSTe. All of the changes at screensavers.com should be acknowledged and applauded.
