I suppose many of you looking at this page heard about this Google project through various sources, and saw how WOT has nothing to say about this site when you wanted to test its legitimacy. To dispel your fears I can tell you that yes, this is indeed legitimate. Here is what I know that I can tell you. 1. This is a project run by Google in conjunction with Knowledge Networks (a company known for their data services) SOURCE (and useful info): ***** 2. Google was fairly vague about what data would be collected on their website. I'd assume that basic information such as search/browser history will be collected, but that probably won't be the extent of it. SOURCE: ***** 3. This is an invite only project (see above source). I received a letter in the mail allowing me to participate and from the context/content of the letter, I can say it's real. 4. While many sites report that you only earn $5 every 3 months, the letter I received claims $40 for starting, and $20 per additional month. Perhaps it has something to do with being selected, but I'm not too sure about that. Sketchy, but that problem possibly exists from Google never making an official press release about the project. 5. I have visited the website Google mentioned twice over the course of two days, and the layout has changed dramatically. I'm not sure if this should cause concern, but it really makes this seem like a half baked scheme. Regardless its no scam, (Check source 1) odd as that may be... Overall I will assure you that its legitimate, but it seems sketchy. Beyond point number 5, it just seems like a program that focuses on sacrificing privacy for small amounts of money. Truthfully I wish Google would be more open as to what they want from you, but I feel like that won't be happening. Stay safe, WOTians...
