When I went to this "zoo" last summer, I was totally shocked at the audacity of offering this delapidated roadside zoo with its sickly animals and mountains of dirt to tourists. It's ironic that next to an ugly plastic animal on the roadside, there's a bench saying "Styria's most beautiful places": One wonders where the proprietors stole it, or whom they bribed to even be considered for a prize. We saw a half-dozen monkeys (some with open wounds) painfully climbing wire cages because they had little else to climb on or play with, mountains of refuse and crates full of empty beer bottles piling up all over the place, broken bottles next to children's toys. The "restaurant" looked dilapidated, with trash and old signs stacked next to the building. What we did not see was paying customers, or any employee of this shithole. Check out the aerial photograph: http://www.tierpark-preding.at/luftaufnahme.html The "zoo" is just the tiny space in the middle, about the same size as the carpark. The buildings on the right are a failed cafe disco or bordello, and a shitty-looking restaurant. That's all there is. And yes, they WILL demand that you pay cash to enter for a closer look at some sickly, mistreated monkeys. Any normal country would force this place to close for cruelty to animals.
