They sell toys fast and loose, make it sound like it's worth something, give misleading descriptions. I won drones, a projector, a rumba, gold chains, cameras for car and more. So cheap I figure I couldn't lose. they sure make it sound good. Glad there a lot of 5-year-olds in my family they have 300 $ in toys this year!

Their thumbnails on the usual crap advert platforms usually say something like "Amazon doesn't want you to know about this site". Which is BS, but it tips their hand- they want people that have never sold anything via online auction. That's what they do. And BTW, I think they meant eBay, not Amazon? If you look at the people that like it they have one thing in common: no experience. That's their hook. Make it brain damaged easy and the computer ignorant will sing your praises. So, what's wrong with that? Prob is, it doesn't scale. You can only do the most simple things. They also play loose with your being able to resolve disputes. They use short countdowns so that people make poor decisions. All this is stuff an experienced auctions person would not tolerate. The business itself seems to be typical of the Silicon Valley business plan. Get a lot of venture capitol from investors, let the execs write in huge golden parachutes, blame all innovation/lack of progress on software development, then fold, take the money and repeat. They're running now, but I will bet my last thin dime that they fold overnight and you will not see one penny of anything they have of yours or owe you. The CEO has done this repeatedly. Just one source out there: "Ashvin Kumar is the owner and CEO of Tophatter, his business Blippy went bankrupt and the same day that happened, he announced he was the CEO of Blipify this was on ***** He is an independent Indian filmmaker with 7 moves he has made and made money on. He owns two homes in Los Altos Hills, CA. He owned ***** and it went bankrupt and he also owned Heartsy which went bankrupt. He does this to his businesses so he can claim loss and not have to pay taxes on the millions that were tied into those businesses." So, we've got a history of shuck and jive, deliberately targeting people who are too stupid or dodgy to use eBay. We have short countdowns designed so you can't compare or have time to think. I think the only rational verdict is, "AVOID!" "The Bag Lady's" review is obviously planted by them, and her review history supports that. But that tells you that I'm right. She's basically saying, "Sure they shuck and jive and have lots of gotchas...but they put it in the fine print and if you get burned IT WAS *YOUR* FAULT!" I think that tells us all we need to know. They plant lots of reviews. The give-away is they always say "fun", or "addicting". Yeah, what's not fun or addicting about getting ripped-off? Here's a bunch of reviews. You'll see what I mean. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/tophatter.com When thousands review something and it's "love it or hate it"...it's crap. Quentin Tarantino comes to mind...

It looks like a pretty "standard" online auction site, and most reviews I'm reading say that people are getting their items. On the flip side, I think the bid countdown timers are designed to kind of put the pressure on you to go ahead and bid in a hurry, which doesn't give you much time to read item descriptions and forces you to kind of rely on the pictures, which some people are saying are pretty inaccurate. Overall, the site doesn't seem to be a total scam, but definitely seems to be something you should be careful with. I think it's unsuitable for children because I think they may be more likely to feel pressured to bid in a hurry than an adult would.

Fun site, a lot of different items up for auction. I have purchased several items from this site.

Most of the items they have for auction are up many times. I believe that is due to the fact that so many of the items are wanted. In a few cases I have noticed that the jewelry is not exactly what it says. You must READ EVERYTHING ABOUT IT, if you do not, it is your own fault for not paying attention.

This is an exciting website, but you need to be careful about what you buy.Seems to have same items all the time, products are not the best quality.Be careful of jewelry it is not always as described as far as sterling silver, and gold.It is usually plated.

Tophatter is a good site that allows you to bid on new or used items such as jewelry & homemade items. If you have the top bid, you win the auction! I've won auctions on here so needless to say, I've had to include payment info. I have had no problems whatsoever with this site & have had a blast bidding!
