Is tripod.com Safe?

I always get banner ads whenever I frequent a ***** hosted web-page. The advertisers are from Third-Party vendors whom I would not trust. Because of these ads, your activities on a Tripod page may be monitored by third-party tracking cookies. I would rate this site borderline between Unsatisfactory and Poor in all WOT areas. Furthermore, I would recommend using WOT to find a better company with a Green (Excellent to Good) reputation for quality web-hosting. Tripod's reputation is very mediocre at best.

Some years ago I used it to store my homepage. In 2001, after having merged with lycos, they decided to close thousands of accounts without giving any meaningfull and valid reason. They did not respond to any complaint, neither offered the possibility to recover own data. Totally unreliable evil company.

In recent times tripod, lycos and multimania webhosting became a heaven for all sort of cybercriminals (bot spammers, malware distributors..) resulting in a huge poisoning of Google and other search engines with fake results linking to bad sites. A large amount of the subdomains hosted (by several of their local clone domains like ***** ***** and many others) are set up for criminal purposes and the owners of tripod seem to do not care about this situation either because they are iresponsible or, more likely, they have ties with criminals for a safe bulletproof hosting.
