Is webshots.com Safe?

The original Webshots was great,and I used it happily for years. When it became Smile, however, I was given no advance warning that all my uploaded photos were going to be deleted, and the new site doesn't work correctly; I signed up and the site cannot seem to remember my login - I am very careful to write down my login/PW info and enter them carefully, but the site inevitably says I got something wrong. ,Much worse, however, is the software provided for the Smile desktop - it doesn't work properly, and installed with the uninstall segment missing so I couldn't get rid of it! It just kept popping up and taking over, with no way to eliminate it! Ultimately it crashed my computer so badly I lost all my data - years of photos and documents. I strongly advise against using this badly flawed software!

I HAD BEEN USED WEB SHOTS FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS, BUT ONE DAY THIS SITE INSTALLED A VERY TOUGH PROGRAM CALLED KIWI WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE.I TRIED ALL MEANS TO REMOVE IT AND WEB SHOTS BUT ALL ATTEMPTS ARE FAILED I CONTACTED CUSTOMER CARE BUT NO PROPER RESPONSE.AT LAST I FORMATTED HARD DRIVE AND REINSTALLED OS.BE CAREFUL WITH THIS SITE

This site saddled me with an almost impossible to remove program called Kiwee that takes control of my web browser. They claim it was an accident, but offer no help that actually works to remove the rogue program. Had to search the internet for instructions to manually remove the program . Don't know how they get such a good rating.

Annoying ads and popups, their screensaver used to be good but now carries MALWARE (look up Webshots Kiwee bar). Their customer service is only for paying customers and even as one is terrible. It is the new managment - After years of happily having my pictures with them I am moving to another site.

This website is good in some ways, but they constantly try to stop people from downloading the pictures, none of which they paid for, so they have no real rights to them anyway. They also harass you to download some ad-oriented software which doesn't work at all on some systems.

First, they prohibited downloading of all pics for free (only low-res pics are still freely available), then they introduced an additional website to tell you, that you are kind of a criminal when you do not pay for the membership, "it's only 19.99$ a year" and now the first download of the day is not the free picture but some software, which may make paying mandatory, I don't know. And I don't go to try this out. What a needy website...
