Is whitefirdesign.com Safe?

The website of White Fir Design who authored a Server Details extension for Chrome (which is where I know them from). The site owner also provides a number of website-oriented services (cleanup and recovery, that sort of thing) and writes blog articles which can be quite rude about other players in the security field. That's okay, he's allowed to have opinions as long as he's not running a campaign of denigration (and I don't think he is, he's just blunt about various shortcomings and perceived failings in the services offered by other companies). Take his blogs as the personal opinions of a developer who can see the faults in others :) The site is otherwise okay as far as I can see. The Chrome extension is useful, and that's mostly what I'm concerned with.

Statements on this page are baseless, written to slander a competitor for competitive advantage in Google (back in 2011). Otherwise, author of website seems generally helpful. Information on other pages seems useful, so why does author go out of his way to go negative? Writing smear campaigns and false statements about ones competitor on their own website... Not cool by most standards of business behavior. Got business ethics? Not so much.
