Is www.booked.net Safe?

Sadly, I cannot at all recommend booking through this platform. I received a booking confirmation for my hotel via booked.net prior to my travel only to show up and have the hotel tell me they needed to cancel my reservation because whatever third party booked.net used to book the accommodation had given them a virtual card which could not be validated. The hotel had called them to make them aware of the issue prior to my travel date and no one on their end reached out to the hotel to resolve the issue, nor did they contact me to let me know there was an issue with the booking. They did not provide the hotel with my contact information in the booking and so the hotel was also unable to reach out to me directly to inform me ahead of time. Instead I had to find this out when trying to check into the hotel. I tried to call booked.net only to get a message saying they were closed and asking me to leave a voicemail. The hotel gave me the number of their booking partner to try, but while they could see the reservation on their end, they refused to work with me stating they could only work with booked.net directly. Obviously this put me in a really bad situation with no place to stay, and no one available on their end to help resolve the issue and assist with finding alternative accommodations. I ended up having to book two separate reservations last minute at another hotel that I found on my own while still out the money for the original booking through booked.net. While they have said they are working to process a refund, we’ll see how long this takes. Even so, I personally feel that a refund - while certainly owed to me - is not enough to make things right given the headache this has caused. I’m really surprised that they don’t have a 24/7 customer service line given that this seems to be a consistent issue people experience when booking through them, as numerous other reviews show across multiple review platforms. Save yourself the stress and book through literally anyone else.

A friend of mine just made a hotel reservation via this. It showed "free cancellation" but as soon as she entered her credit details, it changed into "non-refundable" and the sum increased! Hopefully she can reclaim her money back from MasterCard, but I would avoid this site.

If anyone has fallen upon this site looking for a hotel then I would avoid. I Booked hotels in Manchester City Centre with this company in advance as I was going to see a concert there next year. The hotels quickly sold out in the next few days and then I was emailed to be informed that there was a "technical error" on their site and I was actually reserved for a hotel approx 15 miles outside of the City Centre. They offered me 2 choices: 1) keep the hotel (Pointless as it would cost £100s in taxis getting to and from the venue) 2) A refund At this point other hotels had sold out or were £100+ more expensive compared to the day I booked with booked.net In the end they refunded me but have not refunded card costs that I incurred for the booking. All in all using www.booked.net has been an expensive mistake that will now cost £100s so please read this in advance of using them and don't be a fool and make the same mistake as me Hope this helps other people.
