United Heritage opened its doors in 1957 as Military Federal Credit Union, offering military personnel savings and loan services. In 1969, their name changed to Bergstrom Federal Credit Union and they expanded their service offerings and increased their overall membership base. By 1993, the Credit Union was given the opportunity to expand their membership base to include hospitals and hospital affiliates, along with select employer groups, allowing them to grow into United Heritage Federal Credit Union. Changing from a federal charter to a state charter in 1997, they are now open to the Central Texas, Austin and Tyler communities, enabling to help more people than ever.
