Is xfire.com Safe?

Xfire is a free program that allows you to record your games and to converse with your friends. You can also create tournaments for certain games. First warning for individuals interested in joining, Xfire does not allow you to manually delete your account. The company has been around since 2002 according to Wikipedia, and they have yet to add a delete account option. From my experience, I have experienced difficulty using the latest version of the Xfire client, so I currently use the older version as an alternative. When I contacted the site for assistance around April 2013, I received a reply seven months later. I am not sure how the customer service is today since I have yet to submit another ticket for their late response, so I apologize if I cannot display helpful information here. Depending on the settings from the Xfire client and codec on your computer, the quality of your videos will vary. I am content with the program, but I am undecided on whether I would recommend this program to others.

It is indeed a good program for thoose who plays videogames regularly and likes to socialize with their gaming friends, but hence it being free, the only solution for the developers to earn a dime out of it, seems to by adding advertisements. The safety of each advertisement varies because I have both received those that are safe for work, and those who are not. But every single of them are indeed game related, so those who are not safe for work are like "Play games with hot babes" which redirects you to a pornographic dating site. Except from that feature, I would say that this is an excellent must-have application on a "gamer's" desktop.

During installation, it asked me if I wanted to install Registry Reviver, known rogue software. I am giving it a yellow rating for now. Sorry, X-fire, but I am not installing your software, especially when below the option to install rogue software it says "Recommended by Xfire." Not gonna fly.
