My reasons for the red flags is the evidence pointing to fraud such as fake accounts, bot messages, long singups that end up pressuring members to upgrade...
Then add in the privacy risks, the difficulty deleting accounts and then it recently got hacked.
So if you wanted to go online and have an affair this site from the get-go probably was too good to be true. There are so many issues that it merits a full dark red.
This site has been hacked this may or may not have been an inside job. Irrespective of that the premise of this site calls into question the moral grey area in the service it provides it's users and thus it makes it a massive target for such an attack.
The fact remains those who commit adultery are seen as the worst of the worst to a greater part of society and rightly so. The moral ethics of the actions of the hackers whilst what they have done is indeed illegal you have to ask the same question of some of the sites members because they are also not at fault.
I've read some of the comments on the way the site is indeed run from WoT and this is not at all pleasant reading it is very clear to me they bought the attack on themselves. It would be well advised you avoid and do not use this site or enter any kind of payment information now that it has been compromised.
Their Web site was JUST HACKED OVER THE WEEKEND see this article by Leading Security Expert Brian Krebs:
[Online Cheating Site AshleyMadison Hacked
Large caches of data stolen from online cheating site AshleyMadison.com have been posted online by an individual or group that claims to have completely compromised the company’s user databases, financial records and other proprietary information. The still-unfolding leak could be quite damaging to some 37 million users of the hookup service, whose slogan is “Life is short. Have an affair.”]
Site is possibly still compromised and LOTS OF "PRIVATE INFORMATION" is now in the hands of HACKERS,
This site is a complete scam. Once you sign up, suddenly notices will come into your mail account (even though the site clearly indicates that NO ONE has viewed your profile) that mysterious stop AFTER you actually pay for membership –
if you read the fine print, THEN they mention that they use bots to entice people into thinking that the site is more active than it really is.
Additionally, there is this bit, from their site:
"(they use an) automatic re-bill “top up” feature to keep your account active. In the event that any action you take or features you use on the Service that require the expenditure of credits results in you having a "zero balance" or a negative balance of credits, WE WILL AUTOMATICALLY PURCHASE (WITHOUT FURTHER AUTHORIZATION FROM YOU ONCE YOU OPT IN) FOR YOU THE SAME MEMBERSHIP PACKAGE THAT YOU HAD PURCHASED PREVIOUSLY . . . " ! ! !
They also enable a one-click buying feature on their site, without warning, thus if you click on a notice about a special rate, you are automatically billed!
Responses on the site are always from people that are too far away from the user or are one time communications from people who's identity can not be verified, in short:
Adultery does not only destroy marriage and is unarguably disgusting immoral but it is also a deadly Sin that was forbidden in the Ten Commandments by G-d and He will punish those who disobey His word and all behind this website will learn to fear the Lord in Hell, do yourself a favor never visit this website, it is sinful and degenerate.

Q:Does Ashley Madison encourage infidelity?
A:No, Ashley Madison does not encourage anyone to stray. In fact, if you are having difficulty with your relationship, you should seek counseling.
Ashley Madison offers a guarantee that you will "find someone": "we GUARANTEE that you will successfully find what you’re looking for or we'll give you your money back" However, the guarantee is so restricted by conditions -- you must buy the most expensive package, send "priority" (more expensive) messages to 18 unique members each month for three months, send 5 Ashley Madison gifts per month, and engage in 60 minutes of (paid) chat per month, that it is very difficult to qualify for. Compounding the problem is that "more men than women use the service, with the disparity increasing as they advance in age," and "Men seek sex, while women seek passion." This is not revealed to prospective users. It is obvious from a page on the Ashley Madison site itself that many men feel "ripped off."
According to one source 74 percent of Ashley Madison's users have a college degree, where only 32 percent of Americans do.
Portuguese-language website, she was assigned to create over a thousand bogus member profiles within a three-week period in order to attract paying customers, and that this caused her to develop repetitive stress injury.
Unless they know how to opt out of the 'Ashley's Angels' feature, the site's Terms and Conditions say that users who have not yet paid the site any money ('Guest' accounts) may get computer generated messages from fictitious profiles that "are NOT conspicuously identified as such". These may cost money to respond to. The site says this feature is "to provide entertainment".
The site also charges money to delete accounts, although they may be hidden for free.
It may violate the anti-adultery laws as per Articles 333 and 334 of the Revised Penal Code of the Republic of the Philippines that may be punishable by prison correcional in medium or maximum periods, or penalty of destierro.
Site that promotes cheating on one's significant other, while making money off of said infidelity. While monogamy isn't for everyone, it's one thing to be in a poly or open relationship. It's another entirely to go behind your partner's back.
Ashley Madison let researchers read user communications for study to show that adultery is awesome. Here it is: http://time.com/3120241/ashley-madison-cheaters-site-spies-on-its-users/
And there's more: I personally used the website as a paid user and I can confirm it has lots of fake profiles. The website is like a abandoned city, full of profiles of people who DO NOT ANSWER ANY message (each message means a debit to the expensive credits). And if only this don't make you suspect that most of these quiet profiles are made by paid companies, I can add that I received answers from two women who composed their messages like pamphlets, like press releases. They were formal, artificial, they really made me suspect they were too "open" and "eazy going" to be truth. And then they suddenly were gone like the ones who didn't even answered.
Oh, and I need to mention that the website CHARGES you to completely delete your profile. One can stop being emailed and sorted in search lists for free, but the complete deletion is not for free.
