Care2 is a huge support to me. I co-moderate a forum on a chronic health problem. I have learned much... not only from my forum, but through friendships, and contributing to what I believe are important sites.
Some parts of C2 are safe for children, most are neutral, some are not safe. This is were parental guidance comes in. And yes, there is "adult content," but usually one has to join an adult content forum. I don't find that the general offerings have adult content.
If one is getting "spam" from Care2, it's because that individual did not OPT OUT of mailings. I have that as a problem myself. It's easy to manage one's subscriptions.
I HIGHLY recommend Care2. It's free, & if you don't like it, quit.
Love Care2! There can be a spam problem but it is very easily managed if you simply check your settings, etc. Love linking with other activists and being able to read all sorts of super articles.Highly recommended for anyone who wants to get into a little armchair activism...
Links to bad and questionable sites. Potential phishing scams that bait you to go to bad sites. "Click Jacking" site detected on first link. By clicking on a link here, WOT can't alert you the bad site to before going.
I enjoy this site and learn a lot from it. The spam is a real problem, but for members, Care2 offers you your own Care2 email. I changed my email to Care2, now all the spam goes there and I can ignore it. Since then (many months ago) I have received only one message in my regular email account. That came after I submitted four entries that got me such a positive response, it will take some time to read them all. Now that the spam goes to my Care2 account, it is not a problem, and some of it is info I want. As for the rest, I can unsubscirbe. If you are a member and want to unsubscribe from the spam, change your Care2 email to your primary email for that site. I believe you can do that from your profile page. I am not computer literate, and I found it easy to do. Then, you can unsubscribe from each company you do not want to hear from . After unsubscribing, they stopped. Before I figured that out, I had to unsubscribe from my regular email account. It always stopped immediately. As a disabled person, Care2 gives me a voice I never had before. I have even heard the President repeat what I have written. The site's only issue is the spam. I see no malware here. I have sent many of their ecards. None of the recipients ever told me they got spammed afterwards and they are they types that would. . I will check with them anyway, and if I'm wrong, I will return and edit this to reflect new info. In my case I want some of the "spam" such as info from the Sierra Club, but I believe that you can delete all of it at once if space is an issue, and If you have a Care2 account. If not, I wouldn't expect much spam. I got none, but If you do, I can see your aggravation. My unsubscribes were honored, though irritating until I changed myCare2email to my Care2 email acccount. I believe that with an account, you can delete it all at once. Then you can choose what to unsuscribe to. The site is comprehensive, They try to cover all the bases and unfortunaty that includes the spam, all of which is relevant. If you're not a member, to date I have never heard of anyone being spammed. They are responsive, and would probably stop immediately if you contacted them.
Since last Christmast (2009) I am being bombarded with spam by this site! I have tried every single "Unsuscribe" option they offer in there... I have marked them as Spam in my GMail account, but they ignore my Unsuscribe request and circumvent my philters by modifying the Sender's parameter. How did I get into this mess? By replying to an eCard sponsored by this crummy sight, that someone sent to me for Christmas! This is the pits.
Care2.com is full of antagonizers and racist haters. The staff have accepted this and let a lot of bad things go on. Waste of time if you're trying to live stress free.
