Le site coolrom.com est-il sûr ?

It has gone downhill since the turn of the year and receiving viruses in place of an emulators seems to be the order of the day now. I use my own ripped rom files off my carts but i hear from other users that the roms are safe for now but if you must use this site get the emulators themselves elsewhere. I recommend not taking the risk at all and finding somewhere safer to get what you're looking for.

I went to coolrom because I was looking for a Nintendo 64 emulator and a friend recommended it. I got the emulator I was searching for and games. The ROM screen had a bunch of little ads, ok no big deal. However when those little ads start appearing on other websites that I visit, and know there are no ads, I will be more than a little upset. The ads only appear on certain sites for some reason, and I would like them gone!

It's a good (and in my experience) safe site. It does however offer some inappropriate ads, such as ads for "Nude Sims 3 Patch" with a censored nude Sim. Nothing serious, but not something I'd want my kid --or even parent lol-- seeing while browsing/watching me browse. However, always use the alternative download method (ads and timer), as they now have a download manager that you install using the other method. And while I trust CoolRom, I do NOT trust the third party add-ons, ads, etc. that this download manager puts on your computer. Also using it too much would result in the computer being weighed down by too many programs (that you never wanted in the first place). Basically, just use the alternate download method and start the video ad and you're good here.

This is great site for downloading ROMS for emulators. However, the "CoolRom Installer" is not trustworthy. It gives you unwanted software like PC Optimizer Pro, mysearchdial, and others. But you can un-check them all to be safe. Other than that, this site is trustworthy.

Cool roms used to be the best thing to me. I got all my emulators and roms and all they asked for was a short wait timer. The all of a sudden viruses and ads flood my computer. I tried to download tales of symphonia for the gba because i lost my copy, and then my anti virus (a real one, not the fake virus ones) rips its vocal cords screaming at me to run their scan to save my computer. it became very slow and I almost had to return my computer to factory standard. It has been compromised. make sure you use the alternative download link.

Good site. Trustworthy. The only thing you should watch out for is when downloading it will try to get you to accept some crapware. You have to be really careful about what you accept when downloading. Like so many sites they're quite sneaky about it.

The people who say it's un-trustworthy JUST because of the CoolRom Downloader are stupid as all hell. Yes, they've added a CoolRom Downloader, but it's easier and quicker to just temporarily disable your Ad-blocker and do the other download method, with the video and the download link, rather than bitching about the stupid Downloader, which, by the way, isn't mandatory.

CoolROM have changed much over the years as they didn't have this "Download Manager" BS put in place. It makes things more of a hassle to get what you want now. It wasn't like this a year or so ago, so I don't know why the owner and maintainers have made some skeevy business deals or something for this. Not worth using them anymore, use another site.

Within the past year, CoolROM has loaded their downloads with malware and adware. You can still get around this by clicking the alternative download link, below their ""Virus Free Downloader!!!"" but really, save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else instead.

I don't trust this site 100%. The ROMS itself, as well as the file they're located in, is safe. I can't say the same thing about the downloader CoolROM hosts. Make sure to delete the cr_downloader after downloading a ROM on this site ( If you use that downloader )

So I've seen some people complaining about downloading ROMs through the CoolRom Downloader. Well in case if people haven't noticed, next to the "Download Now" button, there's an asterisk. And maybe if you look closely, you are definitely most likely to notice why there is an asterisk there. Reason is there, and I quote directly from the website "* This file will be downloaded through the CoolROM Downloader making the download process much faster and ensuring the file is virus-free." So basically, it's making sure the ROM doesn't have any viruses or anything like that. There's simply an alternative download link you can click on if you wanna risk it and bypass all the heartache.
