I've had my web site on this platform for many years with no problem at all. What's going on here?

I purchased a domain name directly from this company probably more than 5yrs ago. Since that time I have never had any problems with using my domain. I use it through Yahoo mail by having DROA having all mail sent to my domain transferred to Yahoo. It seems like the main complaint is them trying to scam people into renewing/transferring their current domain to DROA, since I started with them directly I never experienced that. However I have had similar scams by other company's, but I always keep a list of all services/subscriptions that I have along with the date that they are set to renew....I have found this very helpful in preventing me from succumbing to scare tactics that my renewal has expired, etc, since I can easily verify if that's actually true or not. Anyway, I just wanted to let people know that at least one person has been able to use this company without any problems.

After reading other comments, this so called company is sending letters to renew domains. "You must renew your domain name" "Reply Requested by ## ## 2014" Like anyone well transfer their domain paying $45 for a .com domain when I pay $10 now. $160 for 5 years ( save $65 ) however as it costs myself $50 for these 5 years LOL I would never deal this this company ( if they are even a company anyway ) and highly feel no one should deal with them. Well be reporting this to ICANN and their providers. "

☠ Persistent Domain Renewal Scam ☠ Site uses Deceptive, fraudulent junk mail to try and trick people into renewing their domains with them. ☛ The scam attempts to get domain holders to transfer their domain to them and pay for their over-priced service. It seems this scam has been around for a few years and has morphed how it tries to "trick you" into transferring your domain from your normal registrar to them. ☛ When you register your domain you included a contact/registrant address. This stooge site harvests your address from the Who-Is database and contacts you when your domain is about to expire. ☛ Then they try to steal your business by "trickery". (•ิ_•ิ) Instead of saying your domain is expiring and asking if you want to transfer it to them, which would be the polite thing to go and how most legitimate and reputable company would do business. ☠ They send "misleading" mail making it read as if the mail was a notice sent from your "regular domain registrar" and that you requested a transfer. They even "thank you" for requesting the transfer in their mail. A request that you of course never even made. ☛ Searching - "Domain Name Scams" reveals more information and reviews/posts. ☛ See also: "Wikipedia - Domain name scams" *****

This is the same company as "domain registry of Canada" ***** They have been caught doing domain slamming. Where they use the who is info on a domain to contact a huge amount of people and try to trick them into using a horrible over priced service. Their prices are up to 4 times the prices of other registers. Be informed and don't get scammed!

Scam company sends you mail telling you your domain must be renewed with them or else you will lose them.

They'll send you an official looking form when your domain name is due for renewal with outstanding 'discounts' which are several times more expensive than you're already paying. Watch out.

Avoid this business at all cost. If you get a letter from them, pitch it immediately. Don't fall for this company's scam. I would call them a douchebags, but they would give douchebags a bad rap.

They send fake renewal notices and attempt to make you pay exorbitant prices for your domains. DO NOT USE THEM!

They send out fraudulent domain renewal notices (in postal mail), trying to trick people into transferring their domain names to their service. Very sneaky, unethical, THIEVES. Read this: ***** ... specifically under the part about "mining whois and domain slamming" and you will understand. Be warned... droa.com is a scam outfit... STAY AWAY!!! FTC case: ***** more: ***** www.google.com/#q=droa.com

Bill received for domains we never registered. We had registered the name.com, but these bills were for the ***** and .net. This is a thoroughly fraudulent business.

Though DROA claims to follow the ICANN policy on domain transfers, they actually have a 120 registrar lock on a domain even for renewals, when the ICANN policy currently specifies a 60 day max. Their intent was to push back the transfer window to the point that those renewing a year at a time intending to move to a cheaper registrar would forget until it was time to renew again. Getting them to back off and follow ICANN policy took a bit of back and forth quoting even their own terms back at them before they even started to back down. The fees are now outrageous compared to other registrars. Once upon a time they were reasonable and easy to use, but the reverse is now the case.

Fuck these scumbags. Fuck them hard. They deserve to be hunted and shot down.

This is spam telling you that your website will expire soon. It reads like this: "Renewal Notice Dear [insert name here], Your domain name, [insert domain name here], is set to expire in [insert date here] You must renew your domain name to retain your online presence. To renew your domain name instantly online visit [their website] Or you may call our 24 hour customer service center toll free at [their phone number] If you do not want your domain name anymore and do not wish to renew the name please click the link below and follow the instructions provided [their website]"

They may not send spam by email, but using whois information for marketing purposes to send postal spam is the same thing.
5
Phishing or other scams. Tries to get domain name customers to join them by fooling them into thinking they are renewing with their current provider. Also, does not disclose hidden charges. Very untrustworthy - do not do business with these people. Also a spammer.
8
This company charges outrageous rates to renew your domain (4 times normal rate) They also use phishing scams by sending renewal statements to me that state that my domains are registered with them and need to be renewed or I will lose them when I don't even have the domain registered with this company, my domains are registered with another company. (VERY UNPROFESSIONAL) Years back when I did register a few domains with DROA they mad it difficult to transfer them. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. You have been warned.
