Requires the user to pay to view the solution. Usually provides bad information. Proven to use a bot to provide fake information and to trick search engines. This site has been marked by (21) blacklists saying this site is: "Scam(19); False Information(16); Distributes Malware(7); Untrustworthy(9); Phishing(12)". This site has been proven to spam your email. This site has been proven to contain malicious advertizement systems. This site requires the user to enter billing information to use a thirty day trial to view the information provided. Why this happens: They bill you after the 30 days, never telling you this. This site has been proven to create bot accounts on WOT to make this site look good. This sites bad rating started only 1 year after the sites first start, and continued to go down until the site had high traffic going to mywot.com, forcing the votes to stay up. The rating would be red if it wasn't for the bots. Stay away. Vote this site bad.

The only thing "questionable" about this site is that it is a for-pay Q&A site. Only paying customers and participating Experts can see posts that are marked "solved." It is certainly safe, and certainly legit. With that being said, it is easy to get access to those solutions by answering questions from the site. When 2-4 of your answers get accepted as the solution, you get free access to other answers for a month. Every month you have to earn your free membership again by answering questions. If you've ever Googled a problem and found a link to experts-exchange.com in the results that you wish you could see, then contribute to the community by answering questions and you'll get free access. Sure, some of the answers can be found in other Google results. But some of them can't. Sometimes users ask simple questions, which get answered by experts on EE. Having those simple answers is not the fault of EE, just like getting millions of hits from Google for a common phrase isn't Google's fault. Oh, and one more thing. If you don't like links to EE cluttering up your search results, install the GreaseMonkey add-on with the "Google Hit Hider" script. It lets you click a Block button that hides entire domains from your search results. Even though it has Google in the name, it works for many search engines, not just Google.

I used this site for a number of years while providing technical support. This site was INCREDIBLY valuable to me. Did I have to pay? Yes. But, it meant that I got quick answers from professionals around the world. If you don't want to pay, don't sign up. There is nothing about this that is a "scam". Experts are trying to help you for free--THEY have to pay also! Additionally, compare the cost of this subscription to that of a one-time support call from pretty much anywhere.

scam, crap, junk, teaser solution then you pay

This is apparently a tech support (mainly for operating systems) website. It offers support for Windows, Apple, and other operating systems for 20 dollars a month, which is quite a ripoff. I would not trust these types of websites if I were you, but it may be safe, although many of the problems the service fixes can most likely be resolved with a simple reference (that's free) from another website. I gave this website a "suspicious" rating. Be careful.

Expers-Exchange is not a free site. It is for IT professionals. Previous poor ratings must be due to novice users attempting to self-diagnose IT issues and those users are not willing to pay for the Expertise of Experts-Exchange members. I have been an Experts-Exchange member and contributor since 2004.

This website is nothing more than any other "pay for advice" site. I have had good experiences and some not so good. In the end about 90% of the time I get good expeditious assistance and resolution to my questions. This is a full measure better than what I usually find at sites like stackoverflow who believe that since they are non-pay they can act boorish and coy with their responses because they "had to learn it the hard way".

Not a scam; but not really worth paying for. I tried the free trial. Not what I would consider "bad" but during my free trial (which I used almost daily) it gave me nothing an extra moment or two on Google wouldn't give me. Also I haven't had any spamming due to this site. As for child safety, its a tech site so that's fine. However some of the posters use language I would not want my children using.

I was stunned as I was searching for info and saw a yellow next to experts-exchange. They have been around longer than most people have been online. They have great people who can find answers to some complicated issues. Just because a site charges for answers, it does not mean it's a spam site. It costs money for hosting, domain registration, etc. They do have free 30 day trials so you can see if the site is worth it for you. If you're not willing to do that, then don't just rate a site down because you won't invest time to check it out. I used to be able to see the answers using Google's cached access but they have closed that off now - it probably happened 3-5 years ago. I know that they resolved some pretty tough issues for me. If you expect everything for free, you will spend your life thoroughly disappointed.

They give a free 30 day subscription and then charge your account every month without any warning when it starts and then require that you call them up to cancel. They are clearly trying to make money off customers' forgetfulness. This is an unethical business model.
2
If you like paying while there are plenty of forums and sites where you can get help for free, this site is for you.

You cannot see the answers without paying…

Useless site, need money to get an answer. If there is an answer.

Subscription only. I tried the trial account and the answer was very far off the mark

Use Google or Yahoo! - they are free - to get the same info

Are you guys retarded? This is a PAID service. Of course they want you to try out the service. Stop being cheap, you bastards.

Some people are saying that they are asked for payment before receiving answers or being able to view answers. This was their old system and they admit it didn't work. I asked three questions between yesterday and today. Got three very good and very timely, accurate answers. Didn't pay anything for the assistance I received. And sure I will contribute something to pay them back - on my own terms. I don't know what the other folks are talking about. Seems they may not be talking about THE correct website perhaps? My experience was completely positive. I have nothing negative to report. H.
