Le site foxitsoftware.com est-il sûr ?

I was looking to try out a different PDF reader other than Adobe. The download and installation when alright. However, it installed a free anti-virus application that I did not ask for. I found out when I received a notification of about questionable files on my system. I promptly uninstalled the program. I am very disappointed with this site and I do not think it is a safe one.

Regarding Foxit Reader software on Ubuntu 14.04 LXDE: Doesn't work with PCManFM (Ubuntu LXDE file browser). I solved my problem simply by un-installing Foxit reader and installing "Master PDF Editor". I don't need anything fancy. I just need it to work. Their website does not give you an opportunity to send them simple feedback. You can only discuss by setting up an account and getting a "Ticket". I don't have time for this. Also all their "Testimonials" are very positive. Why not have an open comment section so people can say what they really think about the product? Also please read comment by zinester13 below and vote up or down as you see fit. This person seems to feel that WOT should be censored so negative reviews can be removed. "Peace and Love brother- no negative thoughts. Just give me another hit of whatever that is you are smoking!" LOL

Though I've been using FoxitPDF reader for years without issue until it couldn't read a specific PDF file today, Google Safe Browsing Diagnostic gives: "The last time Google visited this site was on 2015-06-02, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on ***** Malicious software includes 162 virus."

The Foxit PDF Reader 5.0 installes adware. It asks about, but installes it even when you uncheck it! It is the Ask toolbar, which is hard to uninstall. No adware in the new version 7.0 found. (By default demo Version of Foxit Phantom is also installed). Programm seems to work fine. Review has been updated.

It once was something I recommended long ago but the goring list of problems eventually trumped the advantages. Now it apparently has been taken over by Open Candy and it now should be a complete red rating. Bye Foxit!

Obviously I have to leave a 0 in Trustworthiness as they made a sneaky toolbar setup inside their Foxit Reader setup. They make EVERYTHING legally possible to confuse the user and trick them into installing this useless toolbar. I'd even go as far as to treat Foxit Reader as a Malware in its current state. If you are reading me, developers of Foxit Reader, you should be ashamed of yourself. You are a waste of space on this planet.

Foxit has lots of good reviews on the Internet yet many of the comments here are extremely negative. I've noticed this type of situation on WOT comment sections frequently. Many websites are rabidly condemned by WOT supporters yet have great reviews across the Internet. I think it is WOT's responsibility to straighten these issues out. One doesn't know what to trust anymore on the Internet. If these WOT supporters are giving out bogus information their comments should be removed.
