Jisho (辞書 / じしょ) literally means "dictionary" in Japanese, which is an accurate description of what this site is. It's a website meant for Japanese words defined in English, but also provides filters (like names, adjectives, nouns, surnames, etc. of which are listed on the website's search options page.) to find words, which can be great if you want to name something in Japanese without worrying about having an incorrect name, for example. Jisho also provides how to write kanji and how many strokes you have to make to write the specific kanji. Some words can be inappropriate or vulgar, but that's to be expected in a dictionary. Great tool if you don't know what a word means in Japanese, or if you want to say something in Japanese. TL;DR: Jisho.org is a great Japanese dictionary defined in English with search filters, and also shares how to write kanji / how many strokes you need to make to write a specific kanji.

Oh my 神様! I cannot praise this site enough! As a student of the Japanese language, this site beats all other dictionary-type reference resources by far and away. Blows everything else out of the water. I don't even go to other sites anymore when looking up Japanese info. Want to search a gigantic body of words? Want to look up Kanji by radical? And research the meaning of the component radicals? Want to search the sentence database for phraseology, methods of expression, content-specific terms, etc.? And stroke orders? And external references? And multiple dictionaries? And Kanji metadata? And various search criteria? etc., etc., etc. Love it.

Very very good japanese dictionary resource. Do be aware that it tends to display slang terms quite high up in the search results, especially if of a sexual nature. Strange.
