Makers of Web Companion, which is supposed to secure your browser. What it does is prevent trustworthy programs from running, to include Microsoft Direct Access and SCCM. Install it and you can forget browsing anywhere. It's software such as this that wastes time and money. It comes close, if not hitting the target, of the definition of malware. Beware.

Even though they are selling antivirus and antimalware programs, if you install the free program and aren't careful it will hijack your search provider and make it yahoo and you can't change it back unless you uninstall program.

I have contacted Lavasoft and they do not use the Komodia malware anymore.

The Lavasoft antivirus installs an addon into Firefox. Even after uninstalling the program, the addon was still there! I manually removing it in Firefox and then restarted, it is STILL there! Such an annoying app.

Second worst antivirus I've ever used. McAfee is THE worst. Use AVG or avast! They are better.

Trusted by reputable companies such as VirusTotal and Microsoft. It is a member of the Microsoft Active Protections Program (MAPP). Safe website and products, recommended.

Used Ada-ware free for years without a problem. Was running Essentials on XP Pro when I decided to update the current free version without real time protection and hit the Pro free version for 30 days by error. Very easy mistake to make. Now I had two virus protection schemes running at the same time. MY PC ground to almost a complete stop. Took the better part of an hour to shut it down. After booting up, I ran "restore" to get rid of it before things got clogged up again. Not happy with the way Ad-aware, as it appears to me, to have intentionally set a trap for the unwary. For me, one strike and you are out especially when PCs are involved.

It's not really free, but 30 days trial version and if you want to uninstall it you will have some difficulties to perform it. It's creating an annoying blue screen while it's being uninstalled, so it's not fair.

Additionally to Ad-Aware Free many editorships recommend Avira Antivir Personal Free Antivirus. Antivir found viruses, which Ad-Aware did not find.
