It's not Mailchimp who spams you, it's scam Mailchimp users. Avoiding them is very difficult, so hope you'll just use a proper email services which have good spam filters.
btw Mailchimp is awesome in much ways

Easy-to-use site with good customer service. MailChimp takes spam very seriously and doesn't keep customers that send emails that get marked as spam more than a tiny bit.

The sending of unsolicited e-mails is SPAM, a form of ANTIMARKETING, it's not "e-mail marketing" at all. The only acceptable e-mail marketing practices necessarily involve opt in. And always remember that opt in is not an excuse for abuse.
