Le site mailinator.com est-il sûr ?

Very convenient service providing disposable email boxes for improving privacy and preventing spam. Excellent for those times when a publicly-accessible box is not an issue, for shot time use, for non-sensitive information, and for incoming mail only.

I debated giving this one a full green rating. Temporary mails can be a wonderful tool when used properly. For this one they explicitly tell users that with the free version there is NO PRIVACY. I was tempted to mark them down for it- but let's be realistic. Any mail that isn't encrypted can be read by anyone- so I actually give them props for coming out and just saying it as it is. If you send anything sensitive that isn't encrypted then it is on your dumb ass when bad things happen.

The first thing to note is that I have judged this site, taking into account all the information provided from the site itself. This site has a public policy of NO PRIVACY (For its free accounts). That means it is possible for anyone to see emails you might use this site to receive. You should NOT use this site for any CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET or SECURE information. This is a fantastic site to verify details for online accounts, if the password is not then included in those emails. The second thing to note is that all FREE emails are deleted within hours of their arriving in your inbox. So you need to look at the box in real time to keep an eye on posts. IF post comes in when you are working, or sleeping, it may be deleted, before you get a chance to check it. With the above said, this site is trying to reduce spam sent to 1st choice mail boxes I do not believe that is achieved, without a degree of luck and inginuity. If you use common email addresses for addresses they are likely to be seen by several others. If you use an algorythm significantly long (It allows up to 30 characters), you email is likely to remain much more secure. This account only allows incoming emails. You cannot send from this account.

unfortunately this site is increasingly necessary to protect yourself from online attacks. Remember, not only does every account you make create a way for spammers to potentially get your information, but if you're like the majority of people and re-use passwords, every account you're forced to make puts your other accounts at further risk.

This use to be a good site, if you came across a site that you need to create an account for but was not too sure of the integrity of the site, just make up an email with @mailinator.com so you could try it out before using your real email in case of a deluge of spam. Now that mailinator has changed, it does not work properly and blocks you out for a day when using it. Defeats the purpose. Plenty of other similar services that I will now be switching too.

The site is good, however we have a big problem with people coming onto one of our forums, registering with a mailinator account and just spamming our forums... We probably would not have such a big issue had email accounts not be quickly and anonymously created and disposed so easy.
